Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Does anyone have have the OG Redman - Muddy Waters? If so, can you please listen to it to confirm there are NOT skits? People on Reddit are saying they are.. I don't hear them.. making sure I'm not insane.

@debar22
As far as I have always been aware this album has never been pressed on vinyl including the skits.
Are they maybe getting mixed up with the included "Welcome (Interlude)" ?

Legit couldn't tell you.

VMP's response to me on Twitter was, "It has the skits; they're not listed on the back of the cover, but they're there."

I am assuming they actually mean it, but I won't be surprised if they aren't on there!

I meant maybe the people on reddit who are saying they are on the OG are wrong and think the "Welcome Interlude" is a skit because its not.

As for VMP I'm with @Mather we really won't know for sure until someone has it in hand.

I'm 99.9% sure a Muddy Waters vinyl has never been pressed with skits included

If they are to be included on this VMP press then they've gone and created a new unique version for the very first time on vinyl

They haven't gone with that selling point so my money is on the fact the Skits will NOT be on there

But.....they list the skits on this page so yeah still confused lol

It wouldn't be the first time they appear to have gotten the info for their site by googling and copying and pasting a CD listing.

You’re not insane. They’re not on the original press.

I’m pretty sure they’ll be on the VMP pressing based on the video on their site. You can actually see the skit tracks pressed on the record itself.

I still can’t believe people are so caught up about skits on a rap album 😂

Because the skits on Muddy Waters are great! They are hilarious! The 'Uncle Quilly (Skit)' cracks me up everytime I listen to it, and the Chicken 'Head Convention (Skit)' is hilarious too! The skits add to the album and I really do hope they end up being on this VMP pressing! I also prefer the CD album version of 'Iz He 4 Real' compared to vinyl version/extended version, so hopefully we get the original full CD tracklisting! 🤞

now i just need to know the difference with this PUTS LP so i know if i can save 10 bucks or not
Literally only the colour would be the difference. Like @dirty hands said, they'll be a stencil and OBI strip, but I dispose those two in the bin, but if you like stencils then the VMP pressing is cool! But yeah, the only difference for me that matters is that it's a coloured variant, and the colour variant of the People Under The Stairs ROTM looks so pretty! Can't wait to have it and spin it!

Skits matter because the artist put them there.

An album is a piece of art, the music, the talking, the skits, the album art, the liner notes, all of it. That's part of the appeal of owning vinyl - or at least it used to be.

I don't want repressed things that are modified from the artist's original intent.
Remasters are okay sometimes but I agree with your sentiment overall.

This is personally how I feel as well. I can’t say I always enjoy every skit, but I want to hear the album as intended.

Especially when the skits are made to enhance the previous or next song. Or, to unify the album and music together conceptually.

100% As the artist intended for me every time. Spot on. Redman albums always have a bunch of skits. Part of his character and adds to the overall madness and hilarity of his music i feel

Yesssssssss! 100% agree with this even though I usually throw out the liner notes! I like when the full tracklisting is there and preserved/unaltered!

Like I love MF DOOM's MM...FOOD but I wish MF DOOM/the label was able to clear the sample for 'Kookies'! It would've been so much better getting the original version on vinyl, even though this replacement version is decent!

Same as for Snoop Doggy Dogg's Doggystyle! Wish it included the song 'Gz Up, Hoes Down' on the vinyl pressing/VMP pressing, as they couldn't sample the clearance for that song! I love that track and it would've been so much better if that track was included!

Exactly this plus It’s also a nostalgic thing. If it’s an album you grew up loving you remember all the minutiae that was involved with that album. Leaving out skits that you know and can recall by heart makes the whole album sound off. If all you want is the tracks that is what 7” singles or digital files/streaming is for.

You lost me at "throw out liner notes" 😭😭😭😭

Nooooo! My whole childhood and adulthood I am spending carrying on like a child has been built on reading the liner notes. I want to know everything, who wrote who produced who arranged who plays the instruments, what sampled was used etc.
I absolutely love liner notes. Its one of the things I hate about streaming that they don't have them. Usually I'm now on wiki or genius while playing a track/album these days until I get the hardcopy in hand
