Record cleaning - what's your method?

Just contact the guy who makes them. I feel certain he will replace the part. He sells a 90 degree adapter you could ostensibly make yourself that would have prevented that. I put mine sufficiently far on the table to not have downward strain because the magnet tends to release when pulled like that.

See above. And the vac was on the table when in use. The only thing I can think of is that the vac was too powerful and I should've unscrewed the top a bit to relieve some of the pressure. Not sure.

For @Enoch

when you do this, how do you protect the label

What @LeeVing said, just carefully avoid it.

Again, I wouldn't recommend the glue method. However for these records that look like they have mold on them, I'd rather glue then just run in the sink to be extra sure my stylus doesn't pick up to much junk. Just peeled this off Side Two of Brothers In Arms, the results are pretty crazy.

I'm only doing about 6 records with glue, so for me the time doesn't seem to be wasted. I can be patient.

However I've heard people doing this for their entire record collection... And to me, well that's just crazy.

When I got mine, I noticed my vacuum hose didn't fit my Squeaky Clean. I solved it by spending a few minutes with a Dremel on the inside of the Squeaky Clean's coupler.

Dish warps aren't really a problem because the VPI "turntable" has a clamp. Mega warps are going to cause some issues with the vacuum, but I'm talking MEGA..........the vacuum is on a spring so it can move a bit.
No. You may have to gently press down on the round base to make the wand go lower. Do not press on the wand that goes across the record. You want to press on the thing that the wand goes into.

Thanks. Hopefully I'll get mine this week. I'm still waiting for it to ship.

I’ve had a Squeaky Clean since last year but only just got a wet dry vacuum. I finally gave it a run over the weekend and it works a treat. Sorry to hear about your issues with it @Melt Face Molly Drop

I also thought that this might be a bit of fun for Squeaky Clean owners...Lift up your rubber mat and show us what album that Nick has bestowed upon you and grab the jacket image from “teh internetz”

I got....

My Squeaky Clean was delivered this weekend and have all my supplies except ... the water. I'm going with the London Jazz Collector formula straight out of the gate. But I'm having trouble identifying a source for triple distilled water. I know he also was a big fan of RO water from pet store - unfortunately, both have been hard to come by.

I'm wondering if this Primo Water from the Whole Foods self-serve will do the trick: https://primowater.com/self-service-refill-water

Sediment filtration
Activated carbon filtration
Reverse Osmosis (RO)
Post carbon filtration
Ultraviolet sterilization

Seems like that ought to be pretty clean water for my purposes, no? Or do I need to keep looking for something medical worthy? Thoughts? 🤔

That's filtered and sterilized but not distilled. Distillation should remove dissolved things like calcium that I don't think any of that is going to get.

I just used regular distilled water for the recipe. My results have been great. I would not use the Primo water. They add minerals to it for taste and those could end up as deposits in your grooves. Distilled works well because nothing is added to it.

Did you get your alcohol from Grainger?

I went out there but they only sold it in gallons (something like $45). I was able to find a 1L on amazon and had it shipped.
