RSD 2020

@Selaws - I grabbed a copy of Ron Carter's Foursight - Stockholm, Vol. 1 from Rough Trade! It's sold out now so I think I grabbed the last or second last copy! I cannot wait to spin it as I really enjoyed the performance whilst streaming it on Spotify! I think it's my favourite jazz RSD drop out of the ones I was interested in, just from the music! The pressing has great reviews too so far! 🙌

I also grabbed Bob James' Once Upon A Time: The Lost 1965 New York Studio Sessions! I really enjoyed the documentary on that one and this released was pressed at RTI, and mastered by Bernie Grundman, so I'm sure it will sound stellar! I can't wait to spin that release too!

@JonnyH - I grabbed Al Green's Green Is Blue from one of my locals! I was amazed and shocked when I heard the track "The Letter" from the album! Notorious B.I.G.'s Long Kiss Goodnight sampled that track! The instrumental at the start of that track is just incredible!

And then the track 'Gotta Find A New World', was a track Ghostface Killah sampled for his classic track 'Iron Maiden'! AMAZING! Even Coolio sampled the song 'Tomorrow's Dream' on his debut album, and the instrumental on that song (Tomorrow's Dream) has a lot of kick yet is buttery smooth!

This is like a great hip-hop soul turntable record! It's worth it alone for those two massive samples; Long Kiss Goodnight and Iron Maiden! Kinda like how Patrice Rushen's Straight From The Heart is so worth is alone for Forget Me Nots & Remind Me alone for the sampling!

I absolutely love Al Green's Green Is Blues! I've listened to the whole album and I am amazed by how great the album is! The instrumentals on that album are so soulful and colourful! It's beautiful and rich!

So much attention is given to his 3 albums; Let's Stay Together, Call Me & I'm Still In Love With You! Even Al Green Explores Your Mind is an album I feel gets much more attention in comparison to Green Is Blues!

I'm so happy RSD decided to give Green Is Blues the audiophile treatment as well as giving it a sweet colour variant! It's going to be perfect spinning it with the VMP pressing of Al Green's "Gets Next To You", as that also seems like it will be an audiophile pressing, being AAA and mastered by Ryan Smith as well as being plated at QRP! And the VMP pressing of Let's Stay Together sounds good too! And of course the VMP pressing for Call Me is excellent! So I'm really happy right now!

We just need a quality pressing for Al Green's I'm Still In Love With You, as the reissue sounds average/a bit flat! It needs the Pure Pleasure treatment like Al Green Explores Your Mind! That pressing sounds great!

😍♥♥♥😄🐒

Long shot, anyone have a lead on the Ron Carter album? Got everything I wanted except for that and the Monk album (not too concerned about missing that since it’s getting repressed). Also, does anyone know if it will see a wider release? I might just have to settle for streaming it...

From what I read, the Ron Carter was “strictly limited.”

Long shot ask, but does anyone have a spare Dogfishhead RSD 2020 poster they would like to get rid of? Other than the records it’s the one thing I love about the day is that poster and I didn’t get one this year. I’ve gotten one every year I’ve gone! I was sad I didn’t get one!

Posted a link last night. They are still out there. If I see one will shoot you a message or tag you on here!

Gimbab Records in Seoul just put the leftover RSD stock online, and I was able to get the Who, Gorillaz (both), Tyler the Creator (both) and Denzel Curry. I have a few more that I want to find, but I am quite satisfied with what I have been able to get.

I’m feeling like not all the Spacehog ended up at stores. They upped the qty to 2000 and had to be the most impossible grab. I’m still searching out Inet and calling shops. Might be one I miss out on.

BOOM! just sniped a copy on ebay for $50usd... slightly over retail. but still way under going prices... im positive these will show up at the locals (according to a few i called over the next couple days), so keep at it. what i've done on ebay is just a search for "RSD" and filter by newly listed and i just been refreshing whenever i'm free and i'm finding almost everything close to retail as shops put their stock up. might work for others.

Amoeba just listed (Discogs) a couple of Kinks Kronikles at very close to list price for anyone looking.
(Looks like they've listed quite a few RSD titles.)
