Jazz

I might get hate for saying this, but VMP have been killing it with these Jazz releases of late.
No hate will be found here with the jazz titles. The only hate involved is the pricing of their exclusives most of the time. I bet this comes out on black vinyl for $25 or under from Real Gone. Cool to see that it looks like Real Gone is doing an entire Black Jazz series and VMP will release quite a few in color variation.

Oof man $32 is a bit steep. I'd definitely like it but man their pricing is nuts.

I would be VERY surprised if this is a VMP only release...Real Gone is doing Gene Russell - New Direction on for RSD this year. Not sure if it's a RSD first or exclusive (I didn't look it up as I already own that album).

Yeah I'm definitely going to wait until it either makes it into swaps or there's a wide release. It's $32 for a colored record with a standard sleeve and no info about sourcing... not super tempting tbh, especially given VMP's track record of "exclusivity".

Edit: oh here we go, from the description:

"Real Gone has the rights to the catalog and is reissuing a pile of the label's 20 album output. We're partnering on a handful of color exclusives for some of these albums,"

So yeah, it's exclusive color but Real Gone is definitely going to do a wider release.

How does real gone typically price their releases?

Can’t wait for my Quin to arrive!
Thanks a lot for the other recommendation.

They've been brilliant at Astral Spirits. I'm waiting on the 2nd run of the Chicago Underground Quartet album and I got in touch to see if I could add the Quin and have them shipped together (albeit a month later) and they were super cool about it. Got me to order it through bandcamp as usual then refunded me the full $22 shipping. Can't wait for both!

These Black Jazz reissues should be available on black vinyl only. As beautiful as a splattered, swirled or whatevered effect the vinyl can be, it will never match the music nor the art. There is no need for variant for every single release.

I can't wait for the standard releases. After Strata-East, Tribe and Nimbus West, I'm glad to have the opportunity to add BJ records to my collection at an affordable price. I hope pressing will be as good as Pure Pleasure reissues, or at lease close from them.

I know some were chasing this. It looks like a wide repress.
This album is so good. And the vinyl sounds awesome. I emailed them a month or so ago asking if it would be repressed and they said there were no plans to repress it...so it’s strange that it’s now apparently being repressed...
