Hey Amazon, fork you!

You can see the jacket is a little not cool, vinyl seems fine. But seriously. I’ll check out the vinyl (which seems okay) before I have a little chat with them. I guess this is better than just sticking a label on the shrink though.

Wow

Wow. I haven’t had a bad shipping experience like that since I finally found a Stunts blunts and hip hop OG copy and the guy sent it in a box with zero protection, and the dumb ads mailman stuck it on the steps of my porch rather than near the door, and it was raining! I get home to find half the box soaked through to the unprotected cover of the album, luckily I dried it out in time before major damage.

So, I haven’t been able to post in a little bit here because of the, now fixed, image size dealio. And I have been on a very successful diet.

Since the new forum I’ve gotten:
Experience Unlimited
Camp Lo
Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
Manchester Orchestra/Grouplove/Frightend Rabbit EP

I got the awesome pleasure to go digging with @feesrevenge and we both got some great items.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - The Heist.

I’m actually quite impressed with the packing, quality of the art prints and the color of the vinyl. I mean, I know it’s Macklemore but, they put effort into this box set. Plus...can’t beat $10.

It was great meeting you my friend! The color on that album is amazing! And yeah...$10 can't be beat

I met and got to dig with one of the nicest guys ever today! @EmeryRK was nice enough to PIF this sweet Technics record player AND the Ivy Sole record. We had discussed the player before but the Ivy was completely out the blue! To the first of many more digs to come.

The Rage, Mighty Mighty Bosstones and KRS-1 were purchases. Emery MADE me get the KRS-1 haha The Bosstones ended up being an LE 400 version!

Are we going back next week for you to get the Van?? haha

Flea Market Finds
2849
Left to right, top to bottom: The Chi-Lites - Have You Seen Her; Booker T. & The MG’s - Green Onions; The Champs - Tequila; The Beach Boys - Help Me, Rhonda/Do You Wanna Dance; Red Foley - Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy; David Bowie - Criminal World; Prince - Raspberry Beret; Prince - When Doves Cry
Every Memorial Day/Labor Day the SO and I head up into the mountains to the semi-annual Packwood flea market. Basically, it’s a small skiing/hunting/hiking resort type town in the foothills of the Cascades and to kickoff/wind down the summer season the whole town turns into a giant ass flea market. It’s a great time if your into that sort of thing (which we are). Anyways, there weren’t any amazing or even ok find as far as 33’s go but I did pull some okay 45’s some of the “oldies” ones are obvious represses but the Bowie, Prince, Red Foley (whoever the F that is) appear to be originals and the sleeves aren’t spectacular but they are good enough and the records themselves are all in great shape. I wasted a lot of money on shit I don’t need and had a great time doing it! I hope everyone else in’s enjoying their holiday weekend too. Cheers!

today is a good day.

firstly my Juno shipment
2895
Colemine Soul slabs Vol 2 (RSD version, 3xLPs in a luxurious box)
Kelly Finnigan - red vinyl
Jorge Ben - Africa Brasil --> worth it for the first song alone, but the whole is an incredible fusion between Brasil, Africa, Funk and Soul!

and second, the PIF gods have shone a light on me!

That Jorge Ben is a MUST have!

@gafacaode as a Brazilian and music aficionado, apart from his Bossa Nova standards, what are other gems from this incredible guy?
Just to give you a pointer...
the riff at the beginning of "Ponta de Lanca Africano" is magic, and myself and my 8 years son, could play it for hours without stopping!

My 3 go to albums are Samba Esquema Novo, A Tábua de Esmeralda and África Brasil (rather obvious choices, but hey).
África Brasil is by far my favorite and it has a song about freaking Zico (Camisa 10 da Gávea)!

what a Brasil Team that was.
I was 10 at the time of Spain 1982 and remember the entire world cup like if it was yesterday.
Zico, Falcao, Socrates, Cerezo, Junior, Eder....
3/4 of that Team moved to Italy after that world cup.

Luckily we had the giant killer Paolo Rossi that kept us going all the way!
well, the Italian team from 1982 wasn't too bad either!

(and thanks for the recommendations, I'll look for Esmeralda and the exploration of new horizons for the samba!)

regarding A Tabua de Esmeralda, @Skalap also recommended it.

I've just noticed that there's a (fictonal?) carachter , Hermes Trismegisto, mentioned in Africa Brasil and also in the Tabua de Esmeralda.
what the story that links the 2 albums?
The song Hesmes Trismegisto Escreveu quotes also A tabua de Esmeralda few times....

(we can move this to the World Music forum if it is out of place here...)

Replied there!
