Vinyl Me Please Classics

I mean they come with listening notes and a big write up on the site of why they picked these selections. They do research the selections.
I mean, for the ROTM selection this is correct. But a good chunk of their release are solely exclusives and any description is generally copy and pasted from the press release or All Music.

I don't see what difference that makes, personally. I'm not saying I don't believe storf likes the record. Many times if you read the interview and listen to Storf talk about it, it seems like they care more about first time ever something something than the quality of the music.

Its a little dishonest to say that the only reason storf picked Sorcerer was because he didn't have it. I remember the exchange people are referencing here, and the gist was that he wanted the record, he couldn't find it, he researched it, saw it hadn't been rereleased in a long time, then decided it should be a Classics pick. It wasn't a simple case of, 'I don't have it so VMP Classics ahoy!'

There are a lot of things to criticize Storf and VMP for, but petty, bad faith barbs like that diminish the numerous and valid criticisms that currently exist.

Apology rejected.

Not sure what kind of research was done because Mobile Fidelity reissued Sorcerer.

He has literally said it multiple times. No one is saying he didn't think it was a good record. What you said doesn't refute the criticism at all. It isn't a bad faith barb. It is a bad look for Storf to keep saying that.

Damn you - beat me to it! And what a beautiful reissue it is! It's hard to beat the slam of Tony's drums on the mono but this slays the other versions I have. Again, unless someone can convince me otherwise, I don't see the need for this. Last time I was at MD, this was also marked down to the same price as the VMP.

I thought Sorcerer was a great pick. Having a pricy 45 RPM MOFI release shouldn't keep VMP from pressing their own version of an album. The pink vinyl and the book it comes with are quality extras. If something being a previous MOFI release is gonna keep you from reissuing an album then your pickins are slim when it comes to miles davis albums, most of his classics have been reissued to death.

Yeah, it’s weird for people to have opinions on things.

I don’t think Sorcerer is a comparable pick to Hands. Other than their relative popularity to each respective artist. There are a few reasons. My main issue with Mr Hands is that I did t sign up for classics to get heavily processed 80s Jazz.

I've had Aretha for a couple weeks now and spun it through twice so far. It's what you would hope; quiet, flat, with nice range. My copy sounds vibrant. No issues at all with the pressing. Very pleased.
I’m so excited to spin it! I have the 4 Men With Beards pressing and it’s the only 4 Men With Beards pressing I have that sounds great!

I can’t wait to spin the VMP pressing though! It’s going to be everything! I love this album so much too! ❤️
