Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Yea--this has been known for some time since they got rid of it. Their stance has always been that you can re-sub once to keep your 1 month but after that, you have to keep the sub going to keep 1 month. I resubbed to get Art Blakey and have kept the one month for now to get Brubeck and some swaps but think I'll be giving it up soon again. Not enough left to swap that I want and not that amped about what we know is coming out soon.

That's news to me. I've come and gone with my 1-month every other month since like August. Unless they just implemented this for November, and carried it into the new store, I think this is news.

I thought the rationale behind eliminating one month subs was that people dipping in and out made it impossible for them to accurately project pressing quantities. Wouldn't allowing people to skip a month here and there create the same problem?

If only they had some sort of...I don't know, what's the word...forum of discussion(?) where they could gauge interest in titles...

Yeah I only have their pressing of Angel Olsen is because they let me swap it so it was $23, which was less than the clear one was going for in my local. I honestly don’t think they care, they have a group that are blindly loyal and sell enough of most pressings to get away with it.

I actually think they're having balance sheet issues. It seems abundantly clear that they need money upfront, which is why there is no pay-as-you-go option for the longer duration subscriptions, and why they invoice you upon order rather than when an item ships. My guess is they're pretty loaded up on debt and have some big liabilities.

We all know original artwork is impossible to reproduce (I don't care if Music Matters says otherwise), so they are forced to to this kinds of edits. It was either that or scanning the ring wear on an OG pressing, your choice.

Which is what they did with Brubeck's 'Japan'

Did I miss them claim that or something?
That's basically what they said to justify their Dexter Gordon mess, ain't it? Their scans with ringwear and other damage just baffles me. I haven't seen that on any other company... They either get the original artwork or accurately recreate it themselves. Or maybe others do scan OG pressings, but they find a clean copy to scan and edit out any wear ot may have. VMP is giving you the added value of decades-long ringwear with the purchase of your new copy. No need to wait for years of shelf pressure to cause that naturally, your pals at The best damn record club© got you covered.

And Attica Blues, and Percussion Bittersweet, and Fancy Free, and probably a bunch other records I'm not aware of.

I think they did it with Attica Blues too. EDIT: you're faster than me.

the one month this is something they said they wanted to do when they eliminated them for newcomers in the last days before the fall of Gomorrah. It’s become a reality with the new storefront.

I’m a Slave 4 Voldermort! He’s got me under his spell! I can’t run away from him! 🤫🙈🤐

I'm just messing with you. The free international shipping is a great perk. But that's about it. The curation has gone so far downhill. The QC is non-existent. You keep saying the customer service is great, but we disagree on that. And the way the company is run and the decisions they make are just baffling and often times very customer-hostile.

We'll get you away from them. Their namesake Voldemort was defeated (come on, that's not a spoiler at this point!). So I believe N&G, the Hogwarts online branch, will prevail as well.

No but the end of the book before that will always be a spoiler and should never be announced in public just in case haha

I honestly don't remember what you are talking about. Lol

I've read all the books and seen all the movies. But when they all first came out. I've re-watched some of the early movies. I really should do a re-read - maybe I'll start reading to my nieces.

Do not read this if you’ve not read or seen Half Blood Prince

Snape killing Dumbledore

Agree with you there. The main track used to be worth it because it included the international shipping for everything and you got a couple of extra records at $23 and the exclusives were generally max $25. Now it’s getting less enticing by the day...
Except for the color variants, Tidal is the only album that VMP released that it's 100% exclusive and you can't find anywhere else, right? Or am I missing some other?
MorMor and a bunch (all?) of the Rising series too.
