Negative Gemini - Bad Baby EP (2019)

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing and meeting Negative Gemini (Lindsey French) when she opened for Kero Kero Bonito. Despite my awkwardness, she was a delight to talk to. Such a sweet, awesome person and musician. She also taught me that you can open records using a credit card, which I somehow had never thought of before. Happy I got her new EP signed by her!

As for the EP, it is an electronic, ethereal masterpiece. If you like Grimes, but a little softer, you'll love this. Anthony Fantano put the Bad Baby (Club Mix) from this EP in his best tracks of the week list, so hey, go check it out!

Doug Watkins Quintet - Soulnik (New Jazz, 1985 Japanese pressing)

This, believe it or not, is the most recent reissue of this killer session from Watkins with Yusef Lateef. It was, unfortunately, Watkins second and last session as leader before his early death (he died in a car crash at 27 years old). Another interesting fact is that just 3 days prior to this recording he started playing the cello for the first time, and used it on this album.

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#61: Betty Davis - Betty Davis

This is one of my least spun VMP ROTM. I really wanted to like it, and the performances are really good, but I feel like the songwriting gives me very little to latch on to.

Is this Eminem's best album? Strong contender anyway.View attachment 19347
all i know is that ryan loves it and he likes mmlp too so he's all sonning me now with this 'well ethan yes perhaps i'd allow you to give the marshall mathers lp a 10.0, i mean that particular record was perfect, but not this one' yeah well you were busy talking about at the motherfucking drive in back then so let me redeem your godawful site now. jeez unless he went back on his dumb-ass 'policy' theres a nine dot one up there but i promise you 'the eminem show' is really a ten, know that
