Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

I absolutely hate this perspective. The idea that someone is "too old" for hip hop is really de-legitimizing to the genre. Hip Hop as a genre is in it's 40s now. So people who are 40+ can no longer make the music? People who grew up with and within the genre are supposed to listen to 20 year olds rapping their whole lives? In my opinion, that's really small-minded. This is the kind of mindset that keeps Andre 3000 from actually releasing a project.
I don’t want to sound defensive but I didn’t mean it like that. I was more referring to their outdated sound being “old”, but I still shouldn’t have worded it like that 🙈

I definitely think age doesn’t matter when it comes to hip-hop. Billy Woods isn’t young and he’s still making outstanding music and his project with Kenny Segal this year was great. Pusha T was in his 40’s when he released “Daytona” and I absolutely love that album! Kanye West was also in his 40’s when he released KIDS SEE GHOSTS and that album is a classic in my opinion! A Tribe Called Quest’s 2016 comeback album is a great example of a group keeping it traditional but still sounding exciting and fresh.

I just fucked up with the way I worded myself! I just think Little Brother’s recent album was boring and outdated. I do love Little Brother’s first two albums though and love spinning them! 👌

What Benny hasn't got the vinyl treatment yet?

It is more so I'm just digging dudes music a lot these days and don't want to shell out what it currently takes to get any griselda stuff on resale; I wasn't up on it enough to get it when it dropped but now either "plugs.." or "tana talk 3" are almost always in my rotation. I liked it all right away but it's grown on me even more over time. A VMP "plugs.." has major potential in this fan's eyes

For those wanting Dicaprio 2 on wax:

Looks like it's sold out already, maybe. I got the message at checkout. The following items are no longer available. Please edit or remove them to continue. I'll keep trying though. Thanks

Megan Thee Stallion (Storf ruled out... for now)
Chance the Rapper (lol)

In order of what I'd love most to whatever:

Slauson
LB
Slowthai
Tyler
Dreamville
Brockhampton
Kevin Ab
literally everything else.

I mite ask Slauson on twitter if its him cause I'm 99% sure it's not him
I doubt it will be Tyler, The Creator or BROCKHAMPTON. I don’t think they’re great choices either, especially as they both had exclusive pressings and are very well-known. If neither had a pressing yet, then they would be excellent picks and it would be a Monster R&HH ROTM for VMP - especially Tyler, The Creator!

Slowthai would be an excellent pick even though it’s been released on vinyl. Slowthai has been really hot lately, like JPEGMAFIA! That single he released recently with Denzel Curry might be the Rap song of the year for me! His album, “Nothing Great About Britain”, is such an authentic album and it honestly reminds me a bit of Kanye West’s The College Dropout and The Streets’ Original Pirate Material! I’d love for it to be Slowthai because he deserves that spotlight!

Yah you are gonna need to explain what about the sound is outdated and "old". Mature and adult themes does not mean outdated. The production on the album is exceptional and features a pretty dope list of producers including Khrysis and Nottz from The Soul Council. The sound is absolutely a step forward (not saying better necessarily) from their last album The Minstrel Show and it fits the themes of the album perfectly. I mean it pretty much sounds like exactly what I would hope Little Brother would sound like in 2019, which is an incredible accomplishment for a group that hasn't put out music in over a decade.

I assume people are going to join in at random points and not bother going back to read this list.. so allow me to be the first person to make a guess that isn’t on this list and then question why it’s not the artist I guessed..

I think it’s going to be Zelooperz!

I like the new album and love their earlier output, but I don’t agree that it is a step forward from the Minstrel show(which is not their last album). I will always prefer these guys over some 9th wonder production, personally.
