What's Spinning

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#81: Bob Dylan - Blonde on blonde

When I was 17 yo I found a Dylan biography at a book fair, and decided to buy it even when I wasn't a fan of him. I knew a couple of songs, but they hadn't really blown me, what his music hadn't for me, his life did. That book started a phase where I was obsessed with his persona and his music, and this album, along with Freewheelin was at the top of my list.

Got a few new horror soundtracks I didn't get time to spin before Halloween...figured I'd spin them before filing them away.

Fabio Frizzi ‎– Lucio Fulci's The Beyond (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Composer's Cut
Cadabra Records ‎– CADABR-50, 2019

Includes a 24"x36" poster of the cover art (I'm thinking my wife won't let be frame it for the living room)

I don't know why they go out of their way promoting these AAA "audiophile" releases so much - then go and use whatever crap pressing plant.

This and Life Metal both were dirty out of the sleeve - and both suffer from surface noise - even after vacuuming.

Not impressed.

Sunn O))) ‎– Pyroclasts
Southern Lord ‎– sunn333, 2019

This one does get better about 5 minutes in - and does sound REALLY good.

In posting over in the What's The Most Valuable Record In Your Collection? thread I noticed this one has been moving steadily up in price. Not totally outrageous prices, but still noticeable movement, and significantly more than what I bought mine for new at my local FYE 2 years ago.

Tennis ‎– Ritual In Repeat
Communion Records ‎– COMM-US-0010LP, 2014

Cut by Daniel Krieger at SST
Pressed at MPO
