I could see it as a tie in to the Anthology, since it is likely to ship in January. But yes, that would be a lot of Herbie. If they do yet another Herbie album you might as well rename the service "Herbie Me Please".

Didn’t they hint on Twitter at Joni Mitchell sometime this summer?1971 is a killer year. Just wish we had a genre hint!

If I was to guess a few albums, I'd think the likeliest would be:
Joni Mitchell - Blue
Sly and the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On
Can - Tago Mago
Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
Bill Withers - Just As I Am
Herbie Hancock - Mwandishi
I definitely recall seeing that.Didn’t they hint on Twitter at Joni Mitchell sometime this summer?
Man, (great sounding) Maggot Brain or Taco Magic would be the best VMP picks ever for me. Would be great for my last month.1971 is a killer year. Just wish we had a genre hint!

i'm going to go with the "pics or it didn't happen" rule for thisI definitely recall seeing that.
Joni Mitchell Blue is the last album that needs a good reissue from 1971.

I really like this one too:I can spend hours on it, wish it was updated more often
I got that Kevin Gray/Steve Hoffman/Rhino pressing of Joni Mitchell’s Blue and it sounds outstanding! So I’m hoping the January Essentials ROTM isn’t Joni Mitchell’s Blue. I’m really happy with the copy I got!Dunno about that. Because she’s a woman the audiophile release companies haven’t picked it to press as “one of the albums a granddad wants” so there are probably quite a few other albums of the era that have been pressed to death much more than any of Joni’s...
Oh my god! That means we are probably getting Joni Mitchell then!!!Didn’t they hint on Twitter at Joni Mitchell sometime this summer?

blue is way too easy.. it would be an immediate skip
Found it. And it’s hardly a hint really. I feel like they say that about half the stuff that is requested in Twitter.
Blue would be an instant skip for me too. I’m satisfied with my 2019 reissue that Kevin Gray cut.
this is also just as much suggestion we could have endtroducing in the future... so i think its too sus
We have to shoot for the underwhelming pick though! What would be the most underwhelming pick from 1971? (Whispers John Lennon’s Imagine)
