Shit all they want, more replacements for me when I received 3 fucked up copies!Lot of people on Reddit shitting on the King choice because “it’s a cover album” without even listening to it. :/

Did they shit on this months too? Garner wrote 4 of the 9 tracks. It is a little different in jazz, but still.Lot of people on Reddit shitting on the King choice because “it’s a cover album” without even listening to it. :/
Wonder if they’d say that if the pick was Porgy and Bess
Mmmmmmmmm 100% true!Think a lot of people are getting turned off just by it being Elvis covers specifically without looking into it any further.
Definitely going to be grabbing this oneMmmmmmmmm 100% true!
I am certain it’s going to be a magnificent album to spin as it will be a delight to listen to! The Classics ROTM’s as of recent have been really, really good!
What's left field about it other than it not usually being brought up in people's top 5 Albert King albums?I dunno, I think it’s good to go a bit left-field every now and again.
This. Though it seem as to be their MO. Pick a “classic” artist and then choose a second tier release. I understand that people will be happy with this release but I don’t own any Albert King LPs and while I am sure this is a good record I don’t think I would make this my first (or second) Albert King purchase. Probably just take the Albert King cue and use that money to finally buy a copy of Born Under A Bad Sign.Still seems like a weird pick though, right?
Why not do Jammed Together, Live Wire, Years Gone By, I'll Play The Blues For You, Lovejoy or I Wanna Get Funky?
I'm glad you're happy with it, although you seem to have been curated to by our guess thread, since you already bought one thinking it wasn't the VMP pick. The beauty of curation. People would’ve otherwise overlooked this. I’m happy with it, it brings me joy.
You’re definitely over thinking it. I’m 42 years old and have no time for internet debates. I think the album is great and that’s it.I'm glad you're happy with it, although you seem to have been curated to by our guess thread, since you already bought one thinking it wasn't the VMP pick.
I'm not sure I understand your comment about curation though. You're saying the beauty of curation is picking mid-tier albums by great artists with large discographies? I guess you could argue for underappreciated albums that are large departures or ahead of their time that caused them to be lesser known, but I don't see how that is the case here. If you already have all those other albums I mentioned, I guess that makes more sense, but most people only have one or two Albert King albums if any, so I'm struggling with how curation applies here and not there.
Perhaps I'm overthinking your comment and you're just happy with it because you enjoy the album, which is great! But, if I were you, I'd check it his other albums as well. I would be much more excited for the upcoming pick if it were one of those.
I wasn't trying to debate you, I was just trying to understand what you meant by what you said and explaining what I think, but ok.You’re definitely over thinking it. I’m 42 years old and have no time for internet debates. I think the album is great and that’s it.
It's a weird pick of his for sure. That being said, I'll take it! I was surprised that VMP picked "Lucille" for B.B. King but now, in retrospect, I'm really glad they did because I would have overlooked it otherwise.Albert King certainly deserves a Classics release, but literally any other King album besides Born Under A Bad Sign would fit the goals of this subscription. To make it Elvis covers when there are great "original" albums by the artist that need reissuing, no matter how hot the performance, is just bizarre.
It’s in my top 5 wants for him. What's left field about it other than it not usually being brought up in people's top 5 Albert King albums?
I wasn't saying it's bad, but a weird choice considering his only really popular album these days is BUABS, and if they are going less well known than that, there are more well regarded albums to choose from. Not uncommon for VMP though, I guess.
