agree with the prices you listed. I think most of the boxes have been around what, $27 a disc.
Usually $37 a disc

The Rhino releases, as most of their stuff, sounds good.Stupid question and I could probably just google, but what's the sourcing on the rhino releases? They sound decent? I've always been on the fence with rhino.
Is this the first anthology where almost every single one of the releases can readily be had for a fraction of what they are charging?
Rhinos sound great...rti presses for mostStupid question and I could probably just google, but what's the sourcing on the rhino releases? They sound decent? I've always been on the fence with rhino.
according to this
Workingman's Dead
American Beauty
Live Dead (2LP)
Europe '72 (3LP)
Wake Of The Flood
Terrapin Station
Reckoning (2LP)
Without a Net (3LP)
I believe Ghostly was also all easily available in non-color variants. BN might be the only one not easily available for cheaper. Zamrock too has some not repressed but supposedly most will be repressed in the next year or so by Now-Again.I think most of the Motown box was easy to get but I could be wrong
I only did the BN box, so the idea of getting good reissues of hard to find/expensive records was what sold me. I think the Dead.net crowd will laugh and selection at the price of this release. Without A Net is $120 or so on top of that. Still a rip off price though. The Rhino releases, as most of their stuff, sounds good.
Problem is for $450, you can do the following:
WD MoFi (50)
AB MoFi (50)
Wake MoFi (50)
Rhino Live Dead (20)
RTI E 72 (60)
Warfield '80 (40) (Same live shows as Reckoning)
Roughly $270.
Have $180 left over to either buy a full show or round out your vinyl collection
And the MoFis sound-wise are the definitive editions
They won't. #Woodstock'd
Yep I did BN and Zamrock since it likely won’t be much more expensive than reissues from Now-Again and most were albums I have wanted to buy anyway. I stayed away from the others and actually really like both boxes. I’m out for this one too.I only did the BN box, so the idea of getting good reissues of hard to find/expensive records was what sold me. Fair deal lolI'll trade someone a Woodstock for this. Let's hope this is a complete failure and they show up in swaps in 4 months
If someone was doing this from scratch, I wouldn't necessarily point them to Without A Net. I like the Spring 1990: So Glad You Made It or the Wake Up To Find Out (3/29/90) both better from that era for roughly the same money. I would recommend getting a full show with the $180 left over in my fantasy budget, perhaps with Anthem of the Sun for 20 bucks or so as well.Without A Net is $120 or so on top of that. Still a rip off price though.
Not $450 convenient though...$300 sure. $450 no wayBoth Motown and Stax were largely-available albums. But the pressings are good and the instant collection aspect is nice and convenient.
Agreed, have both, love both. Without a Net is really for the completist factor. If someone was doing this from scratch, I wouldn't necessarily point them to Without A Net. Yeah, at $449 a pop, I'm out. Having money to spend on records I'll probably spin more often is always a plus.Casual Dead fan here with none of their stuff on vinyl, so if the price is right, I might jump on it. Could be a nice complement to that 10LP Day of the Dead tribute set on my shelf.
