Vinyl Me Pauly (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

In general. I never understood the concept beyond the single artist ones and even those didn’t take chronological chunks but random selections. It just messes with how I organise and think about music.

The whole launch day live from ikea and the vinyl junkies weirdo planted hype guy to the massive defensiveness just sorted made me hate it even more too.
I totally forgot about that Vinyl Junkies schmuck. He was like a human tshirt canon.

So... got the ABC email. Prepaid for annual subscription ( with paypal ) April of 2024 that I did not renew for 2025. I swapped for credit last year - A Lot... and used most of it to preorder - have 5 lp's pending and still owed a replacement that was promised about a month ago. Also, still have about 80 bucks in swap credit on my account. Can anyone tell me if there is ANY effing way that I can get reimbursed for ANY of it?? I do plan to file a claim but I know how that usually turns out... Any insight/ help/ tricks would be greatly appreciated.
I think the only experience people have with this type of thing is Bandbox, which actually could be more than just similar since the same company who bought Bandbox might be involved in buying up VMP’s last assets.

If that’s any indication, I think your best chance would be to receive any preorders that were actually pressed and waiting at the plant to be paid for. Some Bandbox customers did get some of those titles eventually. No idea whether any of those VMP records ever got pressed.

For the credit stuff, no idea whether you can get any of that back through chargebacks or whatever. I think it’s unlikely you’ll get anything back through the legal process, unfortunately (also using Bandbox as an example).

@weezinwa I think you’re gonna be hard-pressed to get money back from swap for credit preorders sadly. People bought gift cards from bandbox and never got the money back from buying those. This is kind of the same idea…

Might be best to keep those preorders and hope that they were pressed and get fulfilled eventually.

With bandbox, I had to pay shipping to the new company to get some of my preorders so far.

I do not know what any of this means haha. I sort of remember vinyl junkies guy? What happened with ikea now??

You also hate Jazz so that knocks out like 1/3 of the anthologies for you anyway haha

I didn’t love the podcasts really or think they added much value. I think one or two of the podcasts were okay. The sets though that I got were incredible. Miles, Cadet, Impulse, PIR were all excellent. Also helps I got most at a discount. But the quality was largely excellent.

Were you active much on their forum before they bombed it? I think of you more as being of here rather than of there…

Anyway they launched the forum thread whilst furniture shopping in ikea. They planted vinyl junkies as a hype man and gave him hints or product or something like that in return for him going full on Nathan in the thread. He was so comical he got the piss ripped something rotten, he went psycho and then did a YouTube hammering VMP and their online community and then took it down a day or two later.

It’s not even about the music picked tbh. I just didn’t get what it was trying to be or what its concept was or why it existed.

I don't remember this at all! That's so odd...

I remember it because it was the same Saturday morning that I bought the one step blood on the tracks and @Murfocakes and @Skalap bought all the vinyl. We were all sort egging each other on. Then this thread and drama all appeared!

tbh i been thinking of selling my metal blade one for quite a while.. i don't listen to it basically at all, the music is solid but I forget I own the singular albums and the whole boxset feels too unwieldy to play at once... that's a problem I have with most box sets, even ones of great music like that duster set, I sold it because I listened to it all in full instead of as individual albums which made the entire experience somewhat slog

Take the single albums out of the box and you will probably play them more often. Doing this with all my box sets was a game changer for me.
