Upcoming/Recent Shows

Can you post video in here? Got a nice video of Kacey Musgraves doing 'a shoey' (google it) of tequila during her last show in Melbourne on Tuesday night.

Seriously was the classiest shoey I've ever seen - and the show was amazing. My wife and 8 year-old daughter loved it too.
 
I’ve been playing the trivia all Reward the Fan for the past few months (like HQ except you win “reward dollars” that you can redeem for tickets to concerts, sporting events, theater, etc) and I finally saved up enough reward dollars to redeem.

So I’m going to see Anderson Paak for free in a couple of weeks!

Saturday I'm seeing Gost and Perturbator as a Birthday Present to myself. I'm really into their music and excited to see it performed live, however, I'm not at all cool enough to go to a show like this...

Oh well, people will think I'm someones dad standing by the sound booth.

Caught Perturbator & GOST last week! Their shows are always super chill. You'll fit in fine. GOST is touring as a two-piece this time around, which adds some dynamism. Perturbator's lighting is insane, so everyone will be blinded and not even notice you.

Just saw Imogen Heap/Frou Frou on Tuesday (delightful).
Seeing Drab Majesty with FACS play the local conservatory tomorrow.
The Twilight Sad and Kathryn Joseph on Saturday!

At some point in my mid thirties, I realized I just wanted to see more shows, and started going to them on my own - being the dad by the soundboard. I've eventually met up with a good group who we go to shows w/ pretty regularly and seen some great bands I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Good choice to go, and Happy Birthday!

Next up for me - Jenny Lewis!
 
I didn't get to tell this story at the last place, but a few months ago, a friend from North Carolina hit me up to see if I wanted to go see Less Than Jake in Baltimore. He's a huge fan, and I used to really like them in middle/ high school (not so much, anymore), so I was down to go. The show was set to start at 5pm, which seemed weird, but was nice for me cuz I love a good early show. The first band to open up wasn't on the set list, which we thought was weird, but after 3 more acts coming on that weren't listed, I looked at the venue's website to find out that we were actually attending an all-night ska/reggae festival and Less Than Jake wasn't going on until 12:30 IN THE MORNING. This was mentioned nowhere during the process of us buying our tickets, which was wild to me. I wanted to pack it up and leave, but my friend drove like 7 hours for the show so we waited it out. It ended up being hell on earth for like 8 hours, cuz no offense, but Ska isn't the kind of jamz I want for an extended period of time.

Hey there! I had actually started the thread last night, and carried it over - "Upcoming/Recent Shows" (on page 2 right now)

People have been posting on there...doesn't matter which we use, but just thought we should consolidate :)

Could we use this one for a more generic Live Shows discussion? I've got some great older photos from shows I went to, but it never made sense to post them in the upcoming/recent shows discussion thread. Would be interesting to hear stories of different shows that people have gone to over the years.

First show - Jackson 5 Victory Tour, Dodger Stadium 1986. I still remember the feel of the Bass on the field.
