This sounds like a weird animal of a project: Start with the intent to make a double album that doesn't have any filler, and solve that issue by collaborating with a different band for each side? Seems like the shorter path from A to B is...not to force yourself into releasing a double album?

Yeah, the description on that page is bizarre. This is not a double album like All Things Must Pass, Physical Graffiti, and Tusk are double albums. This is...four EPs with one consistent member across them?

EDIT: Wait, I just went back to look. The post itself hasn't been deleted, just the address was edited out. Seems reasonable to me, if not strictly necessary.

That's reasonable to me, too. All I have is this alert

And a personal DM being threatened with a ban. It wasn't clear enough to me what specific element was forbidden, only that I was "doxxing" and getting the boot if I cross this vague line again. It didn't specifically state the address being the reason, but it's all public knowledge. The posts seemed suspect, so I literally just typed the user's listed last name into Google with the company and it popped up. It was listed as a business address so, If anything, that's free promotion.

If it's the address... okay.

If it's something else/more, I don't know how to make the point that so and so is who they are with that particular connection, without saying who they are and pointing out that connection. They're using their own name, own photo, own city and posting links to their own company. I wasn't trying to divulge 'secret" info. I'm just saying, "c'mon. Feel free to stick around, but be up front, because this feels disrespectful."

If the company address is the issue, I'm not going to push back on removing that. I really wasn't trying to "doxx" anyone.

I'll even apologize if it seems like I'm tripping or overreacting on any level. I'm not trying to unrealistically conflate anything here, but I do currently live in a city with a militarized police force brutally assaulting peaceful citizens, while ID-ing and threatening to arrest them, just for trying to go home to their own apartments. Meanwhile, they follow it up by escorting armed white nationalists in a tirade throughout the exact same area they've roped off and beaten people for getting too close to the day before. Anything I interpret as protecting the rights of people perpetrating suspect behavior to perpetrate it, while chastising or reprimanding those who push back against it for pushing back against it, can be a bit triggering, right now.

Remove the address. Remove the whole post. I just think the priorities might be a bit off. If you have a vinyl company to promote, I feel like this is a fairly welcoming community and platform to promote it, as long as you're respectful about it and it doesn't feel like you're trying to dupe anyone.

I always thought I knew what doxxing was....I guess I don't? I probably misunderstand gaslighting too, then.

If it was just the (public) address, then mods need tighter leashes.

Yeah. It is a public company address. I was just saying that the poster's profile states that they are in Austin and that's the Vinylmnky address.

If this is a general forum issue, I feel that a comment in here directed toward my post and stating something like, "we need to be careful with these sort of posts because they could be interpreted as doxxing" would be more effective. Not only would I be more receptive to that, but it would be something for the community, at large, to hear, as well as a worthwhile discussion. It could also provide some clarity.

Not addressing it publicly, but simply messaging me like that, feels more like a finger wag and threat telling me that I know what I've done and better not push the line again or I'm gone. But I don't know and -- believe it or not -- actually, intended to be measured and careful in that post. That's why I'm bringing it to comments.

If @Indymisanthrope is saying the post is still there and the address is simply removed, that's fine. Seems fair enough. I still think it's murky territory, but at least it feels like I have more understanding. If I don't know exactly what my violations are, I'm convinced that I'm doomed to cross that line again. And if they are of a much more general scope where calling anyone out for anything is restricted, then the whole soul of this entire "community" and it's ability to self regulate and protect itself is out the window, in my opinion.

The parameters are incredibly loose, until they tighten up. I just won't post the address. I'll assume that's the problem. I'm not trying to doxx people here.

You also were not suggesting other members harass the user at their work either. Which is what “doxximg” would suggest also, if I am not mistaken.

So is there a push to establish $30-ish as standard pricing for a record? Can't say I'm on board with that for a basic new release.

I could sorta understand the address being the issue. Everything else IMO is fair game to me. I think you're on point--the guy is using his name, his location, only posting his business' links and hocking his over-priced goods and it's pretty easy to connect the dots. Everyone else here who is representing their companies and selling their wares are extremely open about who they are, what their company is and what their releases are. And I like having those people on here and supporting them because of how transparent they are. I've even been iffy about people posting affiliate links in the deals thread or on reddit but at least those people are mostly honest about it too and give you the option to opt out. This guys' posts make me actively want to tell people to not shop at vnylmnky or whatever it's called hah.

Signed colored vinyl from Grimeys.

This looks pretty interesting! And looks like there's a different version of vinyl already sold out on Bandcamp.
