Like most people U2 are ok, at times good to great but they do tend to front load their albums with the singles so they can drag and Bono is a fucking pox lol.

Imagine sneaking your new album onto the iPhone free of charge and watching the entire world become enraged about it.
It's weird that, when I type that out, it actually sounds pretty amazing and like something I would, personally, relish in doing, but I understand that U2 and myself are very different people.

I wouldn’t have cared that they put the album on my phone if it didn’t start auto-playing every. fucking. time. I plugged my phone into my car. And of course Apple iOS didn’t support auto-playing any non-Apple music app (Spotify) at the time. So I had to hear the beginning of California until I could remove it.

I would posit that not only is Joshua Tree through All That You Can’t Leave Behind one of the stronger modern album runs, but one of the most interesting of all time. If it weren’t for Forgettable Fire- I’d say you could extend that back to War. Remove October and you can take it back to Boy.

I had a U2 phase when I was much younger, right around the time I saw them on the Elevation tour. Lost interest in 2005-2006 and can only listen to small snippets every once in a while. Achtung Baby is the album that still holds up for me the best.

I saw them on the 360 tour. That show taught me one thing - as much as I hate arena shows, stadium shows are geometrically worse.

I was actually inside the ring at the Baltimore show. They opened with 4 straight from Actung Baby. It was awesome.

Given that Coldplay (and Radiohead) pretty much wouldn't exist without U2, that's a fair assessment.
Radiohead would certainly exist without U2. They'd be just fine. But yeah, I think Eno's produced for both U2 and Coldplay as well.

The Bends is the greatest thing U2 ever created. After that they did something different, but Radio head owes a lot to U2.

You might not be a fan of The Bends but the only comp The Bends has to any U2 album is that both feature guitars and sing with accents.
