New Music Friday!

The new Yumi Zouma is really good! I've really loved all their albums, and I think by now they're just a super consistently enjoyable band. Still need some more time with it, which I'm hoping to do when I get my vinyl copy.

I also got the new Charli XCX a day early, but I ashamedly haven't had the time ti listen to it yet other than the first half on streaming. I'm digging it a lot. I don't get the initial criticism that seemed to be floating around online. It's super fun, big pop music - and still very much her own style.

Nobody told me Cruella was coming out on vinyl!!

Decent week. I was shrugging quite a bit while working, though.

🔥
  • Hinako Omori - a journey...
  • Somi - Zenzile: The Reimagination of Miriam Makeba [happy that the length of this did not bother me. Truly lovely.]
👍
  • Kee Avil - Crease
  • Fennec - a couple of good days
  • KAINA - It Was a Home
  • King Hannah - I'm Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me [biggest surprise of my week, might move to 🔥]
  • Lack the Low - God-Carrier (EP)
  • Punch Brothers - Hell on Church Street [another pleasant surprise]
  • Rosalía - MOTOMAMI
  • YĪN YĪN - The Age of Aquarius
🤷‍♂️
  • Bodega - Broken Equipment
  • BOYO - Echoes Like Memories
  • Charli XCX - Crash [originally had this in 👎, but a reevaluation had me concluding it too harsh. Still not overly impressed.]
  • The Growth Eternal - PARASAiL-18
  • Henry Earnest - Dream River
  • Fly Anakin - Frank
  • Lucky Daye - Candydrip
  • Messa - Close
  • midwxst - better luck next time. (EP)
  • Oso Oso - sore thumb
  • Sea Power - Everything Was Forever
  • SHXCXCHCXSH - Kongestion
  • Yumi Zouma - Present Tense
👎

None. A few from 🤷‍♂️ evaded this tier.
🤮
  • Ghost - IMPERA
  • The Violent - The Violent (EP)
EDIT: Added one I forgot.

That Susanna album looks interesting. I didn’t realize Emma had an EP out. And I am also really interested in the Vanessa Wagner album.

Took me a few days to get to it but Somi's Zenzile: The Reimagination Of Miriam Makeba is easily my release of the week. Gorgeous. Emotional. Joyous. So good. I hope it eventually gets a vinyl release!

You won't regret it. Very colorful; vibrant instrumentals and dazzling, passionate vocal performances.
Finally listened to the Somi album. It's indeed lovely, like an intense, exciting bag of vibrant music. 🎉 I can also recommend it.
