Dear all,

Is there perhaps a thread lacking on this forum that deals with the wonders of melodic and catchy guitar pop and power pop?

This is a first attempt at rectifying this. So, get into the groove everyone and post albums you like, artists you dig, concerts you enjoyed (when they can be enjoyed again), and so on and so forth!

I'll start off with a gem of a power pop record I discovered this year. Reno Bo is a Nashville-based session musician that also does his thing. There's some great Matthew Sweet/Big Star et al vibes on this record. One song was co-written with Brendan Benson.

I'll take the opportunity to throw Beach Bunny's Honeymoon out there again:

Also had a lot of fun with Bad Moves' Tell No One a couple years back:

Love me some twee pop! I made this mix way back in 2014 with some of my favorites

Idk how to view tracks on 8tracks without skipping through each song but this is the tracklist

Yes, playlists also most welcome!

This is why rock music always confuses me. What’s the difference between this thread and this one:

I’m not complaining, this is a serious question.
I'd say that thread is for more heavier aggressive guitar based Alternative Rock and Punk Rock

This thread is for more Indie/Twee/DIY rock based music.

That's a fair question but I'd strongly argue there is a difference.

No worries. Let me explain like this:

Two Scottish bands.

Teenage Fanclub would fit here.

Biffy Clyro would perhaps fit in the other you mention.

Three of my favourite ever compilations, all well worth checking out (and nestling neatly next to my sole Poly-Rythmo CD) . I fell down a big power pop rabbit hole in the mid to late 90s, and these really give a good hint at some of the more mainstream gold out there.

Also, for all the fans of Scottish pop, keep an eye out on the Last Night From Glasgow label. I'm a member, and around £100 gets you around 6-8 records a year. They do like their Scottish (power) pop. They reissued the Bluebells this year, and lots of Transhcan Sinatras stuff on the horizon...
