Go on, geezer.
A
Now. Informal poll. This thing inexplicably doesn't come with a dust cover because everything is stupid and money is meaningless.
So do I go with this style?

Or this style?

Friend, you are inside my brain. The first reason I wanted option 2 was because it reminds me of an art gallery or museum display and something about that just makes me happy. It's silly, I mean it's ALL silly, but that was my first thought when I saw it. As a child of parents who were both in the arts I spent a lot of time as a kid in galleries and museums and I always wanted to touch everything. In some cases you could but in most cases you couldn't. But I used to love staring through the glass display cabinets at these all the magical things inside and thinking how cool it would be to fucking PLAY WITH ALL OF THEM. There's something about now having my own museum piece thats whole purpose IS to be played that I kinda get a kick out of.I vote option 2 because it makes me feel like I'm in an über upscale delicatessen that fashions the world's finest cheeses into the form of an über upscale turntable and I like both of those things.
Same man, same.Option 1
Option 2
Option 1
Option 2
Aaaaaaaargh
Can’t decide
This is why my table sits on a giant piece of butcher block on iso pucks and there are still spots that say FUCK YOU RECORD PEOPLE ARE WALKING.Yeah I very much hope I can do without an ISO platform due to the iso feet on this thing. But my floor is spongy 1960s thin board hardwood, you even THINK of walking past my table right now and it'll skip. So I suspect I'm going to need the platform at some point. And yes it will definitely look like a huge bulky box if that happens.
Yeah I tried the butcher block, didn't fly, so I tried the iso platter, better but still no dice. I'm not sure anything outside of a wall mounted shelf will fix this flooring but no chance in hell I'm mounting a 65 lb table on a wall shelf. This is why my table sits on a giant piece of butcher block on iso pucks and there are still spots that say FUCK YOU RECORD PEOPLE ARE WALKING.
I'd have to move the guitar and I like giving all of you the willies too much to do that. (Plus I don't want to spend anymore time/money on that side of the room when end game system will clearly have to go somewhere else in the room.)Yeah I tried the butcher block, didn't fly, so I tried the iso platter, better but still no dice. I vote option 2. I feel like option 1 is too finicky and leaves more room for accidentally hitting the tonearm assembly.

AND LASERS LOTS OF LASERS.Then you totally need to get a permanent glass case to put both inside with a little door with one of those silver locks to access it…
The Classic Signature is the only version of the Classic VPI currently sells and yeah it's got the big honking like 20 lb platterI imagine with the sheer weight of that mfer though that bouncy floor should be less of an issue. Does the classic have the regular platter or the big honking platter?...
(can you tell I've been window shopping?)
I have to get a new iso deck that can handle the weight of this thing so CURRENTLY option two would not include the iso deck. But either way, as in the photo it would only cover the table, not the iso deck as well.Does option two have a iso deck with it or is it just on one in the picture? I also like the fancy gallery aspect of that set up. Hell put a slab of marble under there OR EVEN BETTER YET, PUT THE WHOLE SHEBANG ON A MARBLE PODIUM!!!!
This looks badass. Especially with the precarious guitar.ALSO, IT'S A BUTCHER BLOCK ON ISO PUCKS!View attachment 173782
THE GUITAR IS NOT PRECARIOUS!!!This looks badass. Especially with the precarious guitar.
One day, I might refinish it (the block)... I need to build some seven inch crates and cut the stops for the kallax out of the wood I bought like two or three years ago and then install them too. So maybe about the time I buy a VPI... then it won't be big enough... sigh. This looks badass. Especially with the precarious guitar.
