Best Music 🎵 of 2023!

Q1 Update

Total 2023 releases (albums/EPs/mixtapes) listened to as of March 31: 141

Been slower with listening this year compared to the previous years this decade. A bit of a mixed bag on everything I've tried, and more forgettable landfill than usual at the conclusion of the first quarter. Couldn't get to the usual 5x5 from past years into the Q1 cutoff and settled for the 4x5 instead. January was a huge reason for this...only two albums from my chart were released in the first month of the year. I've pretty much eschewed EPs from my listening log unless they are priority items (there haven't been any thus far).

Hoping for a stronger art pop showing next quarter. A few I really enjoyed, but not many. On the bright side, I found a new art pop love; Kate NV!

I'm saving releases from Friday, March 24 for Q2 consideration as I am still running through them. A few I deem good enough to be on next quarter's chart already.

Entries are alphabetized by band name/artist last name.

I need to play that Caroline Rose album

Towa Bird's debut single might be my song of the summer.

(Gotdamn, The Naked + Famous & Luna Shadows production crew really know how to strum my pop heartstrings just right.)
