Baseball

I know it's just memes, but I don't think the torpedo bats would do the big HR hitters a lot of good. They're already getting the meat of the bat enough to hit all of the homers in the first place. These torpedo bats are for those who have the analytics that they hit more frequently up on the hands and less towards the classic "barrel" section.

I just don't understand how this just became a thing in 2025.
It seems so obvious.

I play on a sandlot team and actually do this. I tend to crowd the plate too much so I often hit closer on the barrel to my hands. But I’m not about to go and find one of these bats to accommodate because they’re probably like hundreds of dollars.

So I've gone down the rabbit hole recently of sending cards to old players to sign. Have several Hall of Famers as well as more individual team hall of famers.

This one is one of my favorites. Topps used someone else's picture by accident, so he signs this card this way whenever he receives it.

Very nice. I went down a TTM rabbit hole some time ago but it stopped at actually sending anything. I still follow the group though. Do you include a note and cash offering with each?

Yeah most of the HoF guys I send their fee, but I was surprised at how many "Hall of Very Good" players sign free of charge. I got my dad's mid-70's cards a year ago, so I've been focusing on getting those signed as a conversation starter with him.

I always send a note. Only Bill "Spaceman" Lee has actually responded to what I've said. I sent to him how he pitched well in the '75 WS and should have had at least 1 win, but as a Reds fan I was glad he didn't.
