An absolute mammoth of a year for music. We all know the one true answer though.

1975:
1. Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music
2. Queen - A Night At The Opera
3. Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic
4. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
5. Journey - Journey
6. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
7. Jefferson Starship - Red Octopus
8. Fleetwood Mac - Fleetwood Mac
9. Black Sabbath - Sabotage
10. Styx - Equinox

This should be fun! I’ve heard OF a lot of albums from that year, and I’m familiar with a handful of singles. But I haven’t heard many albums in their entirety. And because I wasn’t alive in 1975, I don’t have any nostalgia tied up in this one! For giggles, I think I’ll do a deep dive and actually listen to a bunch of albums from that year and pick the most “all killer, no filler” ones! Unless there’s a single that just can’t be denied....we’ll see! Yay!

i am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the go-betweens masterful final work didn't make our top 20

75 has my favourite record of all time on it, but i really do think of it as 'the last year before punk', even tho patti smith's horses will likely be in my top 5 favourite records for this year

in terms of antipoean releases, looking for representation for ac/dc (x2!) and skyhooks, plus split enz from across the ditch

I was born 18 years after this week's year, so there's a lot of digging for me to do here. If I were asked to create a favorites for 1975 back in high school, my list would look very similar to the one @Sanders made (great list, btw!) as I tended to favor classic rock back in my teens. RYM will be helpful here, and I am sure to find some relics that I would have otherwise forgotten.

I've added ~25 albums that I am unfamiliar with to the front of my backlog for this week...hoping to get through them all by the end of Friday. Hope to have my list finalized by Saturday!

You guys, red headed stranger came out that year! I’m seeing a distinct lack of Willie in your lists!! This is not cool!
