  • Always enjoyed Cat Power’s “Sun” a lot, but a recent revisit of that record has me borderline obsessed with it. It’s really hitting the spot right now for some reason.

I was just streaming this earlier today on the patio. Only my third listen, but I really like it. I read an article a few weeks ago that the writer mentioned how much they liked that one, so I added it.

Found out I’m losing my job in 2 months. Totally numb.
Man, you guys weren’t kidding about the RSD prices. Picked up a couple of things, but not as many as I would have. I saw that Sweetheart of the Rodeo show live, so those memories will have to suffice.

Maybe someone will have a deal on leftovers and you can grab it cheaper

It’s cool. Probably not something I would throw on often. It was a great show though. But that 2 LP set probably costs about the same as the ticket I paid to see it live, which is crazy.

Record Store Day 2024, UT Spring Game, and 4/20 all on one day. Seems like today has a little something to offer for just about everyone in Austin.

Arch Manning had a great day...but it's still Ewers team.

3rd stringer looked really good from what I saw. But, it’s hard for me to really gauge things when a team is playing itself in an exhibition game. Hopefully the recruits on hand had a good time and liked what they saw.
The bit where UK acts book a North American tour that basically takes them in a straight line across the country (with a slight detour to Canada) is getting old. I mean, I understand they can’t hit every major city in the states, and the costs of touring are a major factor, but still…
Eclipse was cool and all, but, honestly, I hope I don’t hear the word “Totality” for at least another 20 years.

Just back from catching the album release show for Alejandro Escovedo’s “Echo Dancing”, which is out today. I haven’t seen Al live in about 5 years. Different sound for this record, but his touring band is terrific.
Hard to believe the first quarter of 2024 is almost in the books. I think Waxahatchee is the leader in the clubhouse for me so far, but the year is still (kinda) early. St. Vincent is lurking on the horizon. My top 5 so far are probably all from female artists. J Mascis might sneak in there.
This new JAMC album is….umm, not what I was expecting. I will give the Brothers Reid credit for trying some different things, but this one is kind of an odd listen.
This was always my favorite week of the year when I was younger. SXSW, Spring Break, St. Patrick’s Day, & the start of the NCAA Tournament. Two decades on, I avoid South By like the plague & they haven’t even started the tournament yet. Bah Humbug!
Winding up a long work week by catching Jenny Lewis at ACL Live.

I didn’t love all of the songs on “Joy’all” the album, but the woman always puts on an entertaining live show. Great setlist for these shows. Here’s a playlist of the setlist minus a cover of Girls’ ‘Lust For Life’.

First single from the forthcoming Wonder Women of Country album. The group consists of Kelly Willis, Melissa Carper & Brennen Leigh, a trio that has been touring together for a year or so. This Kelly fronted tune is a classic country weeper.
