Driving around this weekend with my daughter running errands and we're both bopping along to CAN made me so happy! Makes all the stress of a rough week just melt away!
Nothing like the first snowfall of the season which leads to the first fall of the season! About to take something to numb the pain and maybe throw on a record until it kicks in, good times!
I was listening to the new Explosions in the Sky album yesterday and my daughter bursts into the room and says "I love this song" and starts dancing! Who knew Explosions in the Sky are for the children?!?
Off to my local record shoppe to pick up a few records they have on hold for me and wondering when I'll actually have time to listen to them! It's not like that's going to stop me, I'll eventually find time, I hope!
After about a month of talking about it I finally set up an eye appointment! My wife asked where the place is and I said "right around the corner from the record store" she's currently Googling to see if this is a legitimate establishment or not!
My wife takes our daughter out for a playdate, cool, I get to stay home, relax and spin some records! I also decide it's a great time to REARRANGE MY ENTIRE RECORD COLLECTION LIKE A PSYCHOPATH!!! Great afternoon so far!
Brutal 11 hour day at work today, the upside is there are records here, the downside is I don't have the energy to deal with them right now! I have no idea what they are and I figure they'll be there tomorrow so I'll deal with it then!
Chekhov's xylophone, I knew it was strange seeing that xylophone in my daughter's room and sure enough at 6 this morning I'm awaken by the Hard, wooden, bright, rattling, incisive, penetrating, sharp, accentuated, precise, piercing, brittle, dry, bubbling, drop-like, shrill, hollow, ticking, transparent, clear sounds of the xylophone!
I've been listening to The American Analog Set all week, they've been on my long list of bands to listen to and boy oh boy they didn't disappoint! The prices of their records, now that was a disappointment I didn't need!
I think the person that packed my record at Amazon is a fan of vinyl! First time I've ever seen bubble wrap around the record, in the box and the box had fragile stickers on it! I still don't like ordering from them because this is the exception not the rule!
De La Soul faced a daunting task. Fortunately, the group had sample clearance expert Deborah Mannis-Gardner to help them out.

This is a fantastic interview! If you are at all interested in sampling and sample clearance this is a must read! Also kind of confirms that De La had to re-play some of their samples!
This just popped into my head. Has anyone that ordered the Voxtrot reissues actually received them? If not received have you got any notification that they shipped them? Just curious as I think the last update was over a month ago and said "shipping next week"
My wife and daughter are sick, so far I'm fine, knock on wood, so my wife just said I should "get out of the house, go to a record store or something, you don't need to be cooped up in here with us"... This feels like the meds talking or a trap....
Excited to see De La Soul put 3ft High and Rising up for pre-order with their other records showing coming soon...AND they are FINALLY coming to streaming in March!!! Let's hope more rappers start regaining some control over their music...and of course feeding my vinyl addiction...
