@Sanders what bothers me is this ridiculous narrative about how "people who want nothing to do with VMP" can ignore it. That's a projection. I'm in those threads, too. It's not all or nothing for people. Some folks remained members. Some don't want to associate. Others are selective. Nobody cares. That mentality is divisive, not the other way around.

@Dead C The Classics thread is discussing clues they've been given so far. To an extent, the new thread also serves as a guess thread. Also, literally any thread for a monthly club will have times where people are waiting to get their stuff before they can discuss the records. I'm not ignoring anything. I think the arguments against consolidation outweigh the arguments for it.

I'm not trying to create division. That's merely how you see it. Think what you will of it, but my point is that we shouldn't change the way things are just because some people don't care for VMP anymore.

I mean the VMP threads eclipse 90-95% of the threads in the Vinyl Club section. if we're judging the necessity by # of replies than we should probably just lump all vinyl clubs into a single thread.

@mdmost I haven't read what the voters have said. I just pointed out why the arguments being made aren't sound. I also don't doubt that the people freaking about about losing their multiple threads are going to be more vocal about holding onto them. Especially, since a lot of people don't visit the clubs section to even know about it, because it's a huge VMP ad.

@Sanders it's the wording & twisting of it being an "us against them" thing, when it's not. Especially, when you claim you are "just airing [your grievances]." One minute "it's overwhelming" or "messy". The next it's reasoning for dead space. That dead space could be filled by other discussion about other tracks. It's just not consistent.

I don't understand what is ridiculous about simply not clicking on a thread you don't want to talk about what's going on inside. people who don't want anything to do with VMP can ignore them. any argument for not ignoring them seems like an argument for multiple threads.

@Sanders also, what brought a lot of this up was when the admins tried to keep VMP exclusives from being mentioned in the pre-orders thread, & we pushed back against it. So, I do think pre-orders should be consolidated with another thread, or rather, that exclusives should be consolidated into pre-orders. I don't want VMP fans/members to feel isolated. It's the exact opposite.

@Tillman I don't see what's so ridiculous about responding to what's actually being said. You are proving my point right now. "people who don't want anything to do with VMP." You guys keep creating this false narrative. That's what I'm pushing back against. The only reason anyone is fighting to maintain these threads is based on a false and divisive narrative.

@Dead C I would agree with merging the store thread into pre-orders if it were only about store exclusives coming up. But the store thread is also used for Swaptions, which is a big help to many people during the swap period. And it's used for notifications about delays. That discussion should not be lumped into the pre-order thread.

There are definitely some people who are (reasonably) mad at VMP and want nothing to do with them. I never said that that's everyone. I never said that there are only two groups of people, ones who love VMP and ones who hate VMP. Those are your words, not mine, not anyone else's.

@Dead C, conversation is usually very organic. sure there may be RHH talk in the Essentials or Classics thread but the bulk will be in their respective threads. I just don't understand why multiple threads, or occasional dead air are problems. it's not taking away from anything

@Tillman and that's why it bothers me, the feigning of persecution. Meanwhile, those threads are just complaints about VMP, anyway? There's a certain group of people who migrated here w/negativity, deciding it was going to be "toxic" so they've quarantined themselves in these threads. We have a hip hop thread & a jazz thread, etc. Stay in there, but stop blaming others for your need to.

@Dead C, you may not be one of them, but I have definitely seem members post how there should be zero VMP discussion on this forum. as for proving your point, I honestly can't even figure out what your point is. are you pro or con consolidation?

@Sanders @Tillman you've both redirected the conversation into this issue where, if someone thinks the threads should be consolidated it's about how "people who want nothing to do with VMP can ignore them." That's unprovoked. Not my words. That's the narrative being perpetuated and it's a tired one

@Dead C I said one sentence about people who want nothing to do with VMP. You replied with a paragraph against that point. Nothing unprovoked about it, it was just one small part of my larger explanation against consolidation. At this point, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree and let the vote decide for us.

@Tillman I'm pro there being an anthology thread, because it's a separate club. I feel like there doesn't need to be a separate thread for one album a month, or a couple of exclusives (color variants) each week. Complaints could even move into the RIP Forum thread, or something, to not overwhelm the discussion of releases.

@Dead C i don't really understand why you seem to have a personal vendetta against this, but there are a lot of people, like myself, who want a little more organization than just dumping everything into one thread. I know you said you haven't looked at the poll but right now the 5 thread option is winning by almost 200 votes.
