Sessanta (A Perfect Circle, Primus, Puscifer) ~ Rady Shell San Diego, 4/18/2024

Caught the first half of the Sessanta show last night. Took the kid and watched from outside the venue, but had to leave 1/2 way through since she had homework to finish up. Primus was definitely her favorite of the three, she described Les Claypools playing as "Nasty".

Great concept with all three bands playing a few songs and then immediately switching it up instead of having to sit through a set change. Sound was absolutely fantastic, as was the staging/lighting.

The Boss in Columbus last night. Had my eye on this show for well over a year, and had given up hope on it as prices were outrageous. However, day of, the second sellers were offloading, and I copped a sweet deal, and set off as soon as I left work. It was fantastic, of course. He played about 3hrs and 10 minutes, and could have played longer (he played no Nebraska, and only 1 from River, my 2 favorites😭) but still played plenty of hits and sounded great. Glad my impulse pulled through. I'm never driving to and from Columbus in one night ever again, though.

Yeah Columbus to Akron post-show is rough sometimes for me. Add another couple hours to it and Wow!

I had no idea this show was happening and probably would have tried to go. UGH.

Yea, Louisville -> Columbus is about 3hr 15 min. Figured I've done Louisville -> Nashville and back plenty of times, so it should be cake right?

No

Completely full first stop on the death cab and postal service 20th anniversary tour 2nd leg and it was killer, the opener was alright but bens voice is on still amazing and the performances are still great (fun fact my brother didn't realize that postal service was a side project and only after he came back realized that "oh shit its the same guy)

Also my brother got me the 2nd t shirt as a surprise... Claiming he bought it for himself and then said "shocker is for you" and I got so excited

First tickets of the year purchased! The Beths at Treehouse in Deerfield MA. Only $30 with fees too which is incredible.

This is only an hour~ from where I'm moving to in CT so I'm excited to see good shows coming nearby. I've only ever stopped at this Treehouse to get beer orders to go, I've never stepped foot inside for beer or for a show here. Has anyone been to a show here before?

Well there goes $60 of my dollars this morning. We went to Newport Folk Fest and got to gates an hour early to specifically see the Beths. And we did...in the med tent, as the line stagnated in heat and my better half got sick and we missed the set. And it's at Treehouse which is a little slice of boozy heaven, so yeah.

My wife and I are thinking of attending the Brittany Howard/Michael Kiwanuka show somewhere out of state, since there isn't a Detroit area stop.
Has anyone here been to the Palace Theater in St Paul?

Neil Young & Crazy Horse ~ Open Air Theater, San Diego 4/24/2024

As I posted over in the Neil Young thread, first time I've seen Neil with Crazy Horse since the 2003/2004 Greendale tour, the last time he toured the states with them extensively. Pancho doesn't tour anymore, and Nils Lofgren is with Springsteen so Micah Nelson is in this iteration and fit in nicely. Not surprising given his involvement in other Neil tours over the years.

The core of Neil, Ralph, and Billy have been playing together since 1969 and still sounded fantastic. Some classics, some surprises in the setlist (won't spoil it here, linked below), and some extended jams that were, to steal a phrase from @Yer Ol' Uncle D , absolutely sublime.

Neil was in great form vocally and playing the shit out of Old Black.

Excited that I get to go back and do it again tonight. Definitely worth catching the tour if its anywhere near you.

Finally saw The Beths on Sunday at 24 Oxford inside The Virgin Hotel. Small venue and the turnout was pretty decent considering the day. It was also an all ages show which is good for me because that means the show would start on time and have to be over by 10:30. Believe it or not, there is a curfew here.
There wasn’t an opener listed, so I was surprised that there was one. This was also their first headliner show and second visit when they opened for Death Cab/Postal Service last October.
This band really shines on the power pop driven songs! Tristen Deck was fantastic on the drums. And I guess Kiwis are just naturally funny, because the banter in between songs was wonderful. Anyway if you get a chance to see them, please go!

Neil Young & Crazy Horse ~ Open Air Theater, San Diego 4/25/2024

Back for night two last night. Switched up about half the songs, with tonight being a focus on
Ragged Glory
.

A little more intensity than the first night, likely due to the song choices, and appreciative that I was able to share the experience with my daughter.

I Don't Know How But They Found Me, Benches, Shell Pink ~ Music Box San Diego, 4/29/2024

Since I brought the kid to Neil Young earlier in the week where she was a generational outcast, I returned the favor and took her (and my oldest) to this show last night. Wasn't familiar with any of the bands, but really enjoyed the show. Dallon Weeks from IDKHOW is a fantastic frontman, and the crowd knew all the words.

It was the last night of the tour, and as we were walking out we saw that the Benches tour bus had been wrapped up by IDKHOW, which I thought was pretty funny and a nice bit of tour camaraderie.
