Vinyl Storage Recommendation

Yeah but it’s fugly.

The black and the brown aren't too bad, and as noted it's cheap, but be aware that (1) with shipping the price will double and (2) the box is large and dang heavy, probably really should ship on a pallet (I'm surprised FedEx/UPS would take them). I ordered two, they both had shipping damage (dropped), ordered two more and both of those were also dropped and damaged worse than the first set. I Gave up, and since I was using two to make one rack I used the four best shelves/pipes to make said rack. Otherwise, I'd be furious: four racks, and none were useable on their own.

Did a few mods - the tubes for the feet are now shelf spacers for a couple shorter components, added some zinc plated washers to the tube ends for a bit of "bling". The bottom shelf is sized for LP storage if you choose, but that wasn't the goal for this build so shorter tubes were used instead. Not the greatest thing ever, but not too shabby and will hold us over.

Still setting up (its a bit further from the right wall now...)

I was seriously considering building shelves with that butcher block and these legs (from the shop below). They come in custom widths/heights and the braces can be put at specified locations and seem reasonably priced. I never went through with it, just passing along my own research...

Pulled the trigger on 2 legs today. The sale ends April 1st unless it's a 🤣.
I think I will drill holes in the bottoms to mount some feet and get the bottom shelf off the floor just a bit.

Thanks again for the lead!

I thought I'd share this here. After putting up the Kallax I mentioned to my wife about coming up with something to keep the records closer to the front edge, and that I read in this thread about pool noodles. She decided to crochet something from all the excess yarn and stuffing she has. It'll take her awhile to make 25 of these, so I'll be adding them in as she gets them done.IMG_7572.JPGIMG_7573.JPGIMG_7574.JPG

That's a mighty fine model you have there for the demonstration.

Got the last 5x5 up and ended up reconfiguring the listening chair a bit. Unsure if I have to retoe speakers yet. Anyhow, it means I get to keep my 2X4!!!

I see assembly instructions in that photo.
The first rule of man is never ask for directions. The second rule is no assembly instructions.

And I always looked up to you...

But not to you. You're, you're...a....a.........a god.

Also, I'm pretty sure that pic was taken at Mystery Hill.
I driven by that place a million times. Have even been to Doc Rock’s Gem mine and the Dinosaur Museum up top, have never gone into Mystery Hill. Same with Tweetsie. I assume the little one will Correct this in a few years.

I think they're perpetually on sale, or at least they have been for the past 6 months. You have to share how this project turns out! It's still on my radar.

I quite like the Salamader Archetype shelves. Probably very easy to build yourself but I had Amazon points and got it for a good deal.
Yes you can! Many years ago I made such a rack, a whole entertainment center actually with a ~4' tall tower on each side and space for a TV in the center. All thread and a boat load of washers and nuts with painted MDF shelves and some oak trim on the front edge. Several years after it's demise, shelves and bits still find use. Here is an elevated shelf/bed for our cat. Holes in the back were for cables (power on one side, signals on the other). You could use acorn nuts on top, or just a thick piece of finished wood with holes for the nuts to hide them.

It's amazingly solid, infinitely adjustable, but a pain to set up (because you have to run eight nuts per shelf all up and down the all thread to the shelf position).

Yea setup and adjustment is not fun on it haha. But this one is well made and suits my purposes perfectly.
