Tool

Vinyl coming in the fall, it was said.
Not even fall yet, so don’t lose hope just yet.

Unrelated - I’ve read that the CD version doesn’t have the instrumental segues like “Legion Inoculent.” Is that true? I hope the vinyl doesn’t turn out like this

For everyone making speculations about a vinyl release, the band did officially say a vinyl release is coming for Feat Inoculum. It's the last sentence of the Press Release announcing their US tour supporting the album. No other albums or specific dates where mentioned yet, but this from a very official statement from the band. "A vinyl release will be announced soon."

I'm also glad to see they are brining some exclusivity back to the Tool Army. I hope the same goes for the vinyl release(s) when that time comes.

After listening to the new
I just want a standard CD. A disc in a jewel case with a booklet. Is that too much to ask for? I don't have $45+ to drop on a band that I've never really listened to before lol
I hear you. I'm a huge fan of Tool and I don't have that kind of $$ to drop on a special limited edition package that includes a CD lol

Dafuq is 'kiling joke'?
Tool are CD cavemen.
I thought I heard from my local record store that there would be vinyl eventually. Oh well.
I appreciate the resistance to putting music on vinyl just for the sake of fetishizing a format. If songs are so long that they don't 'fit' on a record, why force the matter? A vinyl version would have to end up being a bastardized version. What's the point?

I didn't order the deluxe CD version; I figured I'd wait for a non-deluxe CD version. That said, as someone who doesn't buy albums in digital-file-only form, I'm intrigued by an HDTracks version. It's 7 minutes longer than the CD version (86' vs 79'). Since a music CD is limited to a max of around 80 minutes (did they fetishize the CD format here?), is it safe to say the 86' version is the as-intended version, without compromises?

I've seen tons of shots on instagram of a basic CD release in a normal jewelcase. It's not listed on Amazon though. Maybe it's at record stores or big box retailers (walmart) only?
Personally I would be very hesitant to pick up any copy I saw in a standard jewel case. The band has made no mention of a release date for a standard CD version. The artwork has been out for awhile. Anyone with a straight edge cutter, high gloss paper, and some blank CDs could be producing several very convincing fakes in a matter of hours, especially with HDTracks and downloads included with the physical deluxe copies. I’m sure to the end user they would sound just fine, but hopefully people aren’t knowingly supporting knockoffs, especially when the album is on every steaming service.

The extra 7 minutes are the 3 “transition” tracks which were omitted from the CD. None of those tracks are bad, but I personally didn’t miss them at all on the physical release. Personally, I think the album feels a little tighter and more exciting without them, but that’s just my opinion.
So from my point of view, they more monetized the streaming than fetishized the CD.

As for fetishized vinyl... they recorded all the instrumentals on tape (you can actually hear it on the start of a few tracks). So to me that means they believe in analog sound, which could point to vinyl. But above all they didn’t want to write based on the confines of any platform.

Anyone looking at grabbing tickets to this tour? I stupidly joined ToolArmy for $50 after the press release wording implied a pre-sale for regular tickets starting today, but it appears it's just for $500 VIP (sans Q&A). I don't feel great about shelling out that kind of dough for early entry and a T-shirt, so I'm going to try my luck on Friday battling the Bots.

I did the same thing. I'm hoping it pays off in TA Exclusive Vinyl Variant. Otherwise...
I'm going to try and get tix to the Atlantic City show and get a little craps in after the show.
