Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I have a copy on Cassette Tape if that does anything for ya? "In The Meantime" is one of those songs that always gets me going. The rest of that album is pretty boring though. TBH on the whole, while nothing they have never done anything as great as "In The Meantime" Their follow up album "The Chinese Album" is actually a really good overlooked album.

It's not the most mindblowing album but I have a soft spot for it. I think the problem is that "In the Meantime" is the first track on the album and that's kind of blowing it out of the water too early. It sets up *too* high of expectations. It's like Blur's 1997 self-titled which opens with "Beetlebum" which is my favorite song of all time. I love it but the rest of the album is going to inevitably pale in comparison. It's just a fun and self-aware glam rock album that doesn't take itself too seriously and has a lot of good tunes imo!

I, for one, await the 90s rock ROTM with arms wide open. I'll stay up until 3 A.M. like an All Star in order to save tonight for the songs we loved when we were only freshmen.
Lol! Today I learned that The Freshman was not originally by the band Mustard Plug. 🤦‍♂️ Somehow, that was the only version I heard in the 90s. 😅

So if it’s Hole or PJ Harvey , I really hope it’s not live through this or to bring you..as I’ve got both on vinyl already , same with REM and Monster.. I’d be up for Celebrity Skin as it’s just been used on the Captain Marvel soundtrack to great effect ..PJ ..either of the first two ... can’t see it being REM myself ...

Oh fuck. This just reminded me how much I want Resident Alien on vinyl. Most VMP subscribers would be like "what the shit is this" but they'd have me back in a heartbeat.

DID I EVER TELL YOU GUYS ABOUT THE TIME I FOUND MYSELF BACKSTAGE WITH SPACEHOG BECAUSE THE DRUMMER THOUGHT MY SISTER WAS HOT?

Yes I did? Oh, a bunch of times? I see... apparently I'm running out of funny anecdotes....

I'll, I'll just be over here... if um.... if anyone needs me...

DID I EVER TELL YOU ABOUT THE TIME I SAW PULP OPEN FOR BLUR ON THE PARKLIFE TOUR AND I WALKED PAST JARVIS COCKER AND-

Oh, yes to that one too eh? Damn...

-thinking-

What about when I worked the Much Music video awards and a totally wasted Graham Coxson pulled the fire alarm but was super charming while doing it!?

No? YEAH BABY I STILL GOT STORIES WOOOOOO!

I hadn't heard that before so it's new to me! (y)

Pretty cool but also kind of creepy.

Where am I missing all these quality stories at?!

while i'm in for ufo to be a rotm - this type of record and history is why i signed up for the club years ago - this really seems like it's the most convenient choice they've ever done rather than any sort of inspired choice. the ongoing lita partnership, the fact it's already been repressed, and as a couple people have already mentioned the rehashed color scheme.... there is virtually little they had to do to make this a monthly spotlight record compared to most of their choices. cost cutting? lack of inspiration? something else fell through? who knows, but despite my interest in the actual album it's hard to really think anyone there actually pushed for this album on its artistic and historical merits.

Fingers crossed for To Bring You My Love.

EDIT: If it's has to be 90s White Dudes, maybe R.E.M. Monster? 25th Anniversary Edition?
I was about to jump in and say that 'To Bring You My Love' is the one 90s PJ Harvey record that is easy and cheap to get but as already noted it seems to have gone out of print. I'm sure I passed over copies at about £12.99 multiple times over the last couple of years!

I’m just hoping for a reissue of The Magnetic Fields’s 69 Love Songs in non boxset form so I can afford it :)
It's a three hour long album so even if it's re-pressed on 12" rather than 10" you're still looking at it taking up 4 LPs.
