Import CDs has 10% off today with TENOFF code

They sell vinyl, but I was there to buy the new Japanese SHM-SACD high-res editions of Waltz for Debby and Sunday @ Village Vanguard, which ImpCDs has for $26 before the discount (regular US retail seems to be $39).

I already have nice vinyl copies of both albums so was avoiding the new OJC reissues (even though I suspect they’re better than what I have based on reviews of the OJCs). I may sell my vinyl if I like the SACDs, or I’ll sell the SACDs if I prefer my vinyl copies.

Keep us posted! Do you know who mastered those, or is it just a straight tape transfer to DSD?

Unclear. Universal JP’s site (translated) says this: “Adopts the 2023 remastering sound source 192khz/24bit based on the U.S. original analog master.” Speculation on HRAudio.net (link here) is that the hi-res files are from KG’s mastering (remastering?). I suspect someone on SHF has discussed/speculated, as well, but I’m not a member there so cannot search the forum.

Ah ok they’re PCM, not DSD. I would suspect the same. I don’t think there’s been another version archived at 192, to my knowledge.

Sorry, didn’t mean to suggest they’re PCM. The Discogs listing for WfD says about the Japanese text on the obi: “NEW SACD, 2023 remaster, 192kHz/24bit to DSD on Obi,” and I can see “DSD” on the obi, so that makes sense.

Oh!! Got it. I’m not sure I’ve heard DSD made from hi res PCM. Definitely curious what you think when you get them!

Was it on their site or eBay? Seems to be backordered on their site sadly
 
I received my first oldies order yesterday. 7/8 I ordered came in. Packed basically like deep discount so if you’re ordering multiple you should be good. Album that didn’t come had a $0.00 on the receipt which I assume means will be shipped later, but at about 5 bucks an album I can wait.

I think i got their last copy of Sunday at Vanguard. I didn’t know that when I posted yesterday. Figured it out bc I had both in my Amazon cart (w Import CDs as seller), and S@VV was deleted from Amazon cart next time I looked, so they must link inventory. It was gonna be about $8 more through Amazon v. direct.
