Fresh Grabs

An album from a sort of Irish trad supergroup featuring, amongst others, members of Lankum. Went in blind but is supposedly brilliant.

I haven't shared my "fresh grabs" in a couple of months now (I think) as I have been focusing more on selling records rather than buying them. I have added quite to the stack though, mostly pre-orders and subscription bits that I have been waiting on for a while.

The National - Cherry Tree Vol. 5 (Cherry Tree, 2023 Members Exclusive Pressing)

Really looking forward to listening to this. When I first opened the package I was a bit underwhelmed by the extras to begin with (the first Volume's goodies has me spoilt) but the socks are fantastic quality and I will definitely be wearing them a lot.

Wynton Marsalis - Black Codes: From The Underground (Columbia, 2023 Vinyl Me Please Classics Pressing)
Hound Dog Taylor & The House Rockers - Natural Boogie (Alligator Records, 2023 Vinyl Me Please Classics Pressing)
David Porter - ...Into A Real Thing (Enterprise, 2023 Vinyl Me Please Classics Pressing)
Henry Franklin - Tribal Dance (Catalyst Records, 2023 Vinyl Me Please Exclusive Pressing)

I've been having real issues with VMP lately where they have been delivering my records to the wrong address. Looks like once it gets to the UK, Royal Mail have been changing the address (no idea why and everyone I have contacted cant seem to resolve it) so I have been missing out on records for months. The Henry Franklin was ordered back in March and I just assumed there had been delays but it supposedly was delivered months ago. Still, VMP's customer service managed to finally get these to me so im really pleased with that.

System Of A Down - Toxicity (American Recordings, 2023 Vinyl Me Please Rock Pressing)

Nostalgia hits hard with this one. What a great album, sounds fantastic!

The Chitinous Ensemble - Chitinous (Deram, 1971 First Test Pressing)
The Trio - Conflagration (Dawn, 1971 First Test Pressing)
Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners (Riverside Records, 2023 Craft One-Step Small Batch Pressing)

The Chitinous Ensemble record has been on my "Want But Will Likely Never Happen" list for years now and I haven't even seen a copy in the flesh until this came my way. Really thrilled to have it and it sounds fantastic. The Trio is an album I have already but for the price I paid, I couldn't resist getting this original test pressing as well. Neither of these have the sleeves, which they typically wouldn't have had at this stage anyway, but I'm cool with that and might even find a high-resolution image online to print off if I can be bothered. Finally, I actually got this a couple of months ago now but the Monk One-Step sounds incredible and definitely a noticeable upgrade from my much-loved (battered) early pressing.
