The May 2023 Record Spin Challenge: Silver Screen Edition

Day 13: Saving Private Ryan
The Lemonheads - Come On Feel The Lemonheads
FC_20230519_0570.jpeg
This reissue is nearly perfect the only (very minor) gripe is that they went away from the original album artwork. I get why they did it, as the OG art was more focused on Gen X poster boy Evan Dando than the band as a whole but still I prefer when they keep things as close to the original as possible.

Day 29 Fight Club
"On a long enough timeline the survival rate for everyone drops to zero" - Narrator
Interpret how you wish
OR
Play something about time or survival

I'm going to spin Da Grass Roots "Passage Through Time" because it's a stone cold Canadian hip hop classic, or at least in my house it is! Also thought about looking to see if I had the "Father Time" 12" by Saukrates, another Canadian hip hop classic, also came to mind!

Not the actual video

Bonus:

Day 30 Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
"Ohhh. Great warrior. [laughs and shakes his head] Wars not make one great." Yoda
Interpret how you wish
OR
Play something about warriors or space

Warriors you say? How about Dream Warriors? Yet another Canadian hip hop classic, in my house and on Buck 65's CBC radio show, that I haven't listened to in forever, time to break out the cassette!!

Not a single but a great track none the less

Day 24: Rushmore
The Kinks - Kinda Kinks
IMG_3366.jpeg
Rushmore is my favorite or second favorite movie of all time (running neck and neck with Raising Arizona). I am bummed I don’t own the amazing soundtrack on wax, I own a few other Wes Anderson Soundtrack but not this one, hopefully it will get reissued here soon. Anyways, I own Kinda Kinks, which features a song used perfectly within the film.

Day 31: There Will Be Blood

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio - Live in Loveland!

It closes with a 10-minute live version of “Tacoma Black Party” and Jimmy James just lets it fucking rip on this version!
