Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I love the L100 classics but I've pondered the 4349s lately. Some decent deals have popped up with the used market making me really just close the laptop and look away. Even the damn engineer at JBL says 4349s are the way.

This hobby is a riot!
Funny, I was just reading a review on the 4349s. Like 10 minutes ago.

Growing up in the 70’s/80’s in the LA area… I’m drawn to JBLs like a moth to light.

Dream speakers are still K2’s. 🤤

Yeah those are sweet. Love the colors too. About double the price of the 100s so they'd better be good, used definitely probably the way to go on those ones.

I still think my next step is Magico, but growing up in the 70’s/80’s in the LA area… I’m drawn to JBLs like a moth to light.

Yeah long time fan of JBLs also.
My media AVR still runs some 30 year old bookshelf speakers that sound as good as day 1. Of course made in USA then.

I don't have any real qualms with the 100s.
The 3 way speaker is fantastic, easy to push and very detailed with whatever you throw at it.
Crossover just works nicely.
Just the damn engineer talking about the 4349 made me really curious about their horn design. Would love to hear a set but probably never going to happen. So it would be a blind buy with a unnerving amount of cash.

Resale on 100s would help a lot....

I have JBL SCL-2s in my theater. Same horn design. It’s no joke.
Those look cool. Must see some theater pics now...

My old bookshelf speaker is the HLS 810, just for my office day time TV today.
Was amazing for getting into the 5.1 at an affordable price back then.
Still can run them pretty loud with no clipping or distortion.

Reading about this and I'm intrigued.

Very interesting, I’ve been half thinking of a new preamp for a while…

The new Klipsch Heritage series are pretty awesome. I’d love to hear those Jubilees.
I'll be honest. They sounded very very good. But the main difference I noticed, not surprisingly was that they sounded HUGE. I mean big shock, they are. I think in a massive room they would be about the same as going to a concert. But in terms of fidelity it wasn't all that different from much less expensive systems I've heard, like mine really. The voice was about the same, the extension was similar, but this just shakes your whole body at like, no volume. The presence, is enormous. Incredible obviously but I can definitely see where the diminishing returns comes in at a certain point. $56,000 for the pair.
