1: billy woods & Kenny Segal - Maps
2: The Album Leaf - Future Falling
3: Fred Again . . & Brian Eno - Secret Life
4: Westerman - An Inbuilt Fault

I imagine I'll mainly listen to the billy woods & Kenny Segal, since billy's solo work from last year on Aethiopes and Church were my two most listened to albums of '22.

Electronic, dance, etc but really all over the place. This recent tiny desk he did is very cool.

My expectations rose when Four Tet really hyped the album. I mean, of course he would, it's coming out on his label, but in general I have enjoyed many of Four Tet's recommendations.

I’m really interested in this one. It probably going to be my first play of the day.
 
Back home after the Xiu Xiu concert. Only started getting back on the new release wagon this Sunday, after a (at least) two week hiatus. Tell me I haven't missed something groundbreaking, would you?

  • Tim Hecker - No Highs [consistency, consistency, consistency. Tim's got the magic, and it is clear as day in his career's work. Part of the appeal of his music is witnessing how each of his records transcend and build off what came before. So, while I didn't find Anoyo or Konoyo to my tastes, No Highs would not exist without them, and I await his next creation]
  • μ-Ziq - 1977 [tysm, MP ❤️]

  • Baby Rose - Through and Through [good, but won't be clamoring to revisit and will likely forget about it by the end of the quarter]
  • El Michels Affair w/ Black Thought - Glorious Game [bars, production, the works]
  • Angel Olsen - Forever Means (EP) [the first two tracks are some of the most gorgeous she has ever made]
  • Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good! [another solid effort. Maybe it goes up a tier? Not right now though; I don't care for the title track and especially "Shake the Bottle"]
  • Wednesday - Rat Saw God [I see this is a fairly recent darling of the forum. Truthfully, I think this record lacks something. Many of the songs here feel as though they are steps away from a greatness they never quite reach...I still do quite like what the album offers (especially on "Bull Believer") but I can’t deny that there is a very mild sense of disappointment in me. LET'S PUMP THE BRAKES, GUYS]

  • Brandee Younger - Brand New Life [even the Pete Rock inclusion doesn't move the needle for me. She's done better]

Also agree! I love it but I feel like they could take some songs to the next level. Maybe throw another Bull Believer-esque song in there. It feels like some ideas are slightly unfinshed or not fully realized. Overall it's good but missing something.

Yeah this Eno/Fred Again album is decent. I had no idea what to expect but after a few songs it started to click. Had to get used to the signing a little bit. The second half is more ambient, more Eno-y than the first half of the album. I think the collaboration works better than than the first few tracks.
