Finally listened to the new single. It is my least favorite of the 3 tracks released so far. I got some Kim Gordon vibes at the start of the song from Carrie's vocal, but the clanging music behind her doesn't do anything for me. Certainly doesn't FEEL like a title track to an album. The driving portion at the end is kinda cool, but it feels tacked on. Weird tune IMO.

It doesn’t bother me that it’s different, I just haven’t found the songs to be very good. Especially the latest one.

Yeah, I'm surprised this is being released as a single, and that can't be a good sign. This feels like it should be a deep cut you start to appreciate after your 20th spin of the album. However, I am glad it's not following the trajectory of the first 2 singles.
Also - and I want to note for the record, I really like Quasi - the door is on your left, Quasi > SK people. That debate is hot shit.
Your opinion, and I respect that. That said...I’ll stay, thank you very much, and side with the band that still has Janet Weiss on drums.

To be fair (and totally honest), if we're drafting these bands from today forward, I might take Quasi. Historically speaking though, COME ON, SOBER UP. You're tagging the Sleater-Kinney headstone with this blasphemous graffiti. Let us have our funeral in peace. (This is all written playfully in jest btw... I've always understood those resistant to SK's charms. We cant all be right

Very sober, at the moment. To be clear, I love Sleater-Kinney, have been a fan since 'Dig Me Out' and have seen them live countless times. Still, I prefer Quasi, and especially so going forward. Sadly, the new S-K songs did nothing for me, even before I knew of Janet's departure.
Also, Sleater-Kinney belonged to Olympia, not Seattle...and, Janet has long been a Portland girl, never Seattle. She moved here in 1989 and joined S-K after Corin relocated here in '96.
Thanks for the history lesson. I was just being cheeky, but yeah, cold hard facts are so much more fun.

Never heard of this band (somehow) prior to the ROTM speculation. I'm 3 for 3 on the singles so far.
Hurry On Home is straight fucking fantastic, in my opinion. Absolutely infectiously catchy, it grabs you and says "HEY!!! FUCKING LISTEN TO ME!!!"
The Future Is Here isn't quite as an interesting, but a respectable song that'll sound well rounded in the album. A nice listen.
This new track, The Center Won't Hold, really shows some interesting production from St. Vincent. I love hearing random sounds being mixed in with the track. Love when it picks up into power chord madness. Weird choice as a single, but I like it!
Again, I'm new to this band, I don't know their prior material. But I'm pretty excited for this album! Can't wait!

From what i read from you here you that earlier guitar driven sk sound should be in your ballpark.

“Hurry on Home” is easily the best of the three. I’m glad they chose to play that one on Fallon. The title track released as a single is pretty odd. Is this the closest the rest of the album comes to a single? I hope not.
