Portland / Oregon

I guess now is a good time to hop in and say hello from Bend!

Yes, welcome! Were you the one that posted about the Hop Along show at Suttle Lodge? Our family has stayed there a few times, and I am a huge fan of the band. In other words, entirely jealous! I work for Travel Oregon (outdoor recreation focus), make it down to Bend on a semi-regular basis, and would love to know if/when other opportunities like that arise. Thanks in advance!

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Sisters, and as someone who's feeling more and more likely to move out of the city when they're 40, somewhere outabouts there seems like a happy medium between isolation and access.

Yup that was me! It was an amazing show. I think Suttle Lodge is done with their fireside shows for the year as they're mostly a spring thing, but that was honestly my first time seeing a show there so I'm keeping my eye out for any info as well! I'm seeing Jason Isbell and Father John Misty at the Les Schwab amphitheater this Sunday, and then The Roots the following Saturday - Bend has been booking some increeedible concerts this year so far haha

Did you have anything to do with this amazingness? ;)

Hi neighbors. I'm in the Southwest / Tigard / Washington Square Mall area of Portland.

I travel frequently for work, so I rarely get to see live music in town anymore. A rare exception coming up is Anderson .Paak at Edgefield in a couple of weeks.

I'm interested in learning about places to check out used CDs or LPs in my area. Since Everyday Music Beaverton shut down, I've been occasionally hitting thrift stores but that's about it.

I'm excited to learn that soon Echo Audio is moving this summer out to Raleigh Hills which is just a few miles from where I'm at. Even though I find myself downtown at least once every couple of weeks, it's still enough of a hassle that I never quite make it to Echo Audio for a visit. Somehow incorporating a stop at Echo Audio - where they promise ample free parking - into my usual groceries/etc. errands in the outer-southwest area seems a lot easier.

Well, that's enough about me and my exciting suburban life.

I've got Kishi Bashi, Comet is Coming, Alejandro Escovedo, Lucinda Williams, Josh Ritter, The Ocean Blue/Minders, and Priests in the next few weeks. Any of you Portland area folks making it to any of those?

Just bought tix to Comet is Coming, so yes on that one. Alejandro sold out, but I would be interested if I can find a ticket. Other than that, thinking about Bill Callahan or Felice Brothers on Friday night of next week.

FYI, pre-order tix for Nilufer Yanya and Crumb (separate shows) open today.

Nice, I still need to get the Comet ticket. I'm gonna have to take a break next Friday, already have Wed/Thur/Sat shows :)

Haven't spent much time with the Yanya album. Guessing that would be a fun show.

Are any of you William Elliott Whitmore fans? He's playing the Star Theater next Friday. I haven't spent much time with his album from last year, but I love his other stuff, and he doesn't get out west often enough.

I live in Olympia, but my wife hates Seattle, so...

I’ll be workin the merch stand at Pickathon again this year. I think Saturday morning and 2-7pm on Sunday are my shifts.

Yup. Found out today I need to move to the Pacific NW. Won't be making a ton so OR income tax means no Portland. Seattle is too expensive so Vancouver seems like a winner.

Welcome to the PNW! Vancouver always seems to get a bad rap, but I know many who love living there, and it is developing a really nice food and beer scene. The rush hour grind is a nightmare, but if you don't have to contend with a commute to Portland for "normal" business hours, nothing to worry about there.
