Definitive Audiophile pressings

Listened to some of HOTH and it sounds good. Not as dynamic as the German LZ II, but a good deal better than the US version of that album I mentioned earlier. Drums are much more present, but not in the room like with the German pressing of LZ II.

I think HOTH is a mix of earlier and later recordings, which makes it a mixed bag for tape.
We need to steer some of this to the LZ thread to keep the information somewhat organized between us.

I haven't heard the 30th.
When I dropped the needle on the BG Pallas, I could tell it was pretty special right off the start.
In Bloom sounds incredible.

The 2019 reissue is still really affordable too.

I also have the BG Unplugged. Pretty good too.
Would highly recommend both.
The 2xLP anniversary edition of unplugged that spreads it over 3 sides is the best version I’ve heard.

I think both are quite good Reading is pressed at RTI and Paramount at Pallas. Really it just comes down to which set you prefer. I personally prefer Reading but they are both awesome sets.
It has been awhile since I heard Reading but it is great. Probably has a slight edge over Paramount pressing and sound wise. But I think it is much harder to find copies of Reading. I prefer Paramount for personal reasons.

I think there's a black version that's much cheaper. I wish I didn't know that existed though, because I thought I was good with my 1lp BG Pallas too!
I'm spinning mine actually right now and it really is fantastic enough for me to be content. I don't have a reason to upgrade even though I stepped into the audiophilla octagon this evening.

Not trying to create FOMO but if presentation matters, the 25th anniversary sleeve is a gatefold and have some fancy silver foil on the front cover.
