Restocks/Represses

My Brothers In Arms from MD arrived with splits too. Emailed them, they do not have any replacement jackets, so they say.
I would tell them I'd want a partial refund or a replacement sent out (records outside of sleeves) and you'd send the defective product back once you receive the replacement.

Seems like MD/Mo-Fi is doing very poor with their customer base if not the shipping issues they are getting major criticism for not being transparent about using Hi-Res DSD (digital mastering) for many of their vinyl pressings.

What kind of mailers are they using for your records? My Tigerlily came in a big 3-fold mailer that seems pretty nice, and it shipped just fine. I even just used the same one to ship out a record I sold.

Yeah, they wouldn’t replace my Workingman’s Dead jacket that had a slight tear in inner sleeve artwork either. They gave me a 20% refund (about $12) instead.

This was their specific reply:

“I apologize as we do not have replacement jackets for this title. Could you send over some photos? We could either provide a discount or we could set up a backordered exchange. We would ship the replacement LP outside of the jacket to prevent the issue.”

Not sure which I’d prefer honestly, probably the discount so the issue would be resolved.

Point of comparison, someone I know ordered the AP Time Out from AS. It arrived with multiple seam splits. He emailed them, sent them pics, and they sent him a replacement sleeve. And remember, this is AS I'm talking about here

AS has always taken care of all jacket and pressing defects I have run in to with them. They are good in that regard.

lol i've been fine with anything not marked "limited stock".

but the large amount of people who thought they bought the Nightfly One Step today on AS are gonna be in for a rude awakening!

Real talk- who buys a mega expensive One Step vinyl of a famously digital recording lol

from most accounts, it is the best sounding vinyl version of it. I won't pretend to know enough about the process of how it was recorded/what digital format/how it was mastered for various vinyl releases.

I wouldn't pay the $350 that AS was charging for it, but I got a copy of it in a trade (for something I paid under $100 for originally) and it does sound excellent. Don't know how it compares to an SACD either since I don't have an SACD player. I imagine that the 20 or so people who think they managed to buy a copy on the MoFi FB group bought it to complete their one step collections.
