Hip Hop

I agree! Definitely not complaining. Just different and that’s fine by me. It’s his art. I can see how people want the club bangers or whatever. Guessing that’s what they want.
It's kind of like "Can't It Be All So Simple" for me (one of my fave Wu songs). RZA tones it down a bit and just let's Rae and Ghost just go off on the track. Doesn't have to be complex or banging beats if the MCs are fire. There are enough acts that you can play in the club. Give me some shit that I can digest.

Forgot about this one...

Probably could be in reference that this is his last TDE album. Can't see him calling it quits before dropping an album on pgLang.

Good call. And I agree that this may wind up passing up GKMD. Deep into my 3rd spin (I drive a lot for work) and starting to think this might be his strongest album lyrically.

A little different:
1. GK, MC. 10/10
2. DAMN. 9.5/10
3. TPAB. 9.5/10
4. MM&tBS. 8/10
5. Section.80. 8/10
TPAB is the better "album" but Good Kid has better individual tracks. Then if I'm looking for just straight heat I'll look to DAMN. This new one feels like a grower in the way that TPAB was. Section.80 has one of my favorite tracks by him though (ADHD)

Non Kendrick related but anyone care to offer an opinion on how "Call Me if You Get Lost" sounds? Have it on order, just have to pick it up. I actually avoided listening to the full album until I could get it on vinyl for some strange reason.

Tyler's last two projects were pretty dope, so I figure CMIYGL will also be dope.

It sounds great. Had no issue with my copy 👍

Also, I'm hearing this new Kendrick, and I agree that it will take a few listens to appreciate it. Standouts for me are Rich Spirit, Father Time, Crown(actually here right now), Purple Hearts

Amazing. Just remembered my TT is also in storage because we had our house staged and apparently a turntable would ruin the image of our house, so have a hefty backlog too.

Also have one of my grails sitting unopened, so if anyone has an opinion on how Fantastic Damage sounds that would be great.

How many pro LGBT songs are out there in rap? Like, I think I can count them on one hand. Auntie Diaries also 🔥
This! That song is long overdue in the culture. That song alone may singlehandedly change the trajectory for that community in hip hop. So powerful and kudos to him for tackling the topic so bluntly and honestly.

Man, using early Tyler as an example - it's really hard to listen to using homophobic slurs - even now that he's sort of, kind of but not really kind of come out.

Hopefully we'll just retire all that shit from now on.

Do y'all not rate untitled unmastered? Kinda like that one better than DAMN although I haven't listened to either in a while.

New album too early for me to say exactly where I stand but having trouble imagining myself growing to love moments like Die Hard so doubting I will put it at the top. Even though I can respect it, sometimes when he leans hard into poppy territory it just isn't for me. Some of the contradictory stuff others have pointed out, like featuring Kodak so prominently does sit weird with me as well.

Definitely impressive and worth more of my time and consideration, just having a hard time imagining wanting to run it back over and over, if that makes any sense.
