Which one? Hard to believe given how scarce it was generally. I went to 1709 in Vancouver at 10am yesterday, assuming their crowd may be less into jazz than Portland. I waited 45 minutes to get in and they still had 2 copies with little else to speak of left overall.

Everyday Music on W. Burnside. They also had two copies (only one now) of DLO3 for $18.99 each, which seemed crazy cheap, as Plaidroom is charging $29.99 for it. Otherwise, they were cleared out of the hard to stuff find, but a few worthy titles still to be found. I did see one copy of Pepper Adams still hanging around at 2nd Avenue Records earlier today.

So, they did a real bad job advertising that this had a record with it…looks like a sick compilation.

One of my old locals said they almost made more on RSD each year than they did the entire rest of the year. The downside in the past few years has been stored getting stuck with albums that people don’t want. A few shops have been doing 50% or other steep discounts right after RSD to try to move what hasn’t sold.
 
There is already less from this RSD than in prior years at this time. Some duds that will stick I’m sure but even ones I was sure would languish are looking like they’re dropping a bit.

Bull Moose will have Kirk Hammett til the end of time but otherwise? Great weekend for record stores.

Yep should have added this to my comment. Seems there are way less leftovers than in previous years so far

What's their average profit percentage per album though? 20% or more probably? I'd say taking a 30% loss on a few duds is worth all the sales from everything else.

I think it’s actually super smart to immediately discount stuff you didn’t sell over the weekend and post it online for a day or two only. Ride the wave of people who were on the fence about picking up an album or not. There are definitely a few albums i would have gotten if the price wasn’t so high this year

Absolutely, this would 100% be my approach. Most shops are small and really need to utilize their space smartly. Keeping a RSD title on the shelf that will inevitably ride a downward value wave for a couple years before (maybe) starting to climb again is just silly.
