New Music Friday!

I’m open for anything really! I’m not HUGE on rap tbh. Only certain artists are able to get me to like them. The genre puts me in a bad place mentally sometimes haha.
I have a few from last week:

Pop-adjacent
yeule - Glitch Princess
Cate Le Bon - Pompeii

Rock-adjacent
Rolo Tomassi - Where Myth Becomes Memory
Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

Ambient-adjacent
Raum - Daughter
Biosphere - Shortwave Memories

Hopefully those'll help.

It's good 👍I'm enjoying it but not album of the week material for me 🤷‍♂️
If you have some time, check out DLO3's "Live at KEXP". The album is the best entry point IMO. But even better is the actual video of the performance, which you should be able to find on Youtube. This is what got everyone onto them.

Also, I really want a Tabasco sauce T-shirt like the one Delvon is wearing in that show, but I digress.

This is the only one of theirs I don't have and haven't listened to yet! :ROFLMAO:

As I expected DLO3 looks to be album-of-the-week for me!

...in a surprise turn of events, it turns out I really like neo-soul gospel black metal. A lot.
Which means Zeal & Ardor knocks DLO3 out of the top spot for me this week - at least in the initial listen round!

I know I'll be listening to both a lot in the coming days/weeks/months

It's been interesting to track Big Thief's career since their debut which was only released about 6-ish years ago. But they kept subtly growing and evolving with each album. UFOF initially seemed to be the one that most people loved the most - but it took time to grow on me, even though I loved their first two. Two Hands is great, but now kinda seems underrated. This new one though? The consensus is so positive, and although there's a lot to take in cause it's so long, I just gotta say wow. This might be their best album. Because it has all the shades of the band they've been over their past four albums - but it also gives you some new styles. It's how a band changes over time, in a way that feels natural. And this is them really being so loose, but also so well crafted. Gonna have fun spending more time with it this weekend.

That said, i still can't stop listening to Black Country, New Road.

I'm giving the new Spoon a try now. They're really a hit and miss band to me - usually often on the same album. To me their best album is They Want My Soul. I love every song there. This new one is much more rock-forward with a rawer sound. It's nice to hear them doing this, but I don't know how I feel about it just yet.

Love BC, NR. Also this is the first Big Thief record that I’ve connected with. Regarding Spoon it really enjoy it, especially the title cut. That track is on the softer side for this album but it’s a beaut.

Agreed 💯 on the new Big Thief double album!

As for Spoon, yes they went back to their roots in a sense, raw power, clunky guitars 🎸 etc. but it's more than just a back-to-basics retread. They sound reinvigorated and inspired on this 10th LP not to mention there's not a dull moment on the album. If anything Lucifer on the Sofa is a return to form with lots of swing and swagger capturing all the different styles and elements from their post Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga albums.

I just came across Stro Elliot at the end of last year. His self-titled debut is fantastic. What I have heard of the new one it should be a lot of fun also.
