Fitness!

Not been around much lately.
God I came second and this month was a very heavy month for me - many 5 or 6 day weeks. Not planning on repeating that in Feb !
I was surprised at my 41hrs. - I freely admit when seeing why so much higher than usual (even given the extra sessions in GYM / running etc) Tehn I noticed - A couple of rounds of Golf were added to the times.
Is this legit - It does wear you out later on but It doesnt exactly get the heart pumping ?
Anyhow Golf adjusted id be around 35:30.

My Garmin Watch is simply linked to MMR which makes logging everything basically effortless but it logs EVERYTHING.
Yeah, in my eyes golf is a physical activity and definitely counts (as long as you're walking and not riding around on a cart ;) haha). I include my dog walks and those don't necessarily get the heart pumping but it's a physical activity that is good for you haha

Walk and I carry my bag - Im also utterly Shit and not sure I even like the game.
Certainly not for over 3 hours.

The win for me today :

I used the work Gym and now I have option of going to my local Gym with Wife and just sitting in the Sauna whilst she works out. Thats a pretty good end to the day.

Any recommendations for a good Yoga mat? My
Amazon basics mat isn’t cutting it.

I have a Manduka PROlite and like it a lot, but it's pricey so you probably wouldn't want to spend that kind of money unless you're gonna be doing lots of yoga-ing. My gym had a sale going on and I had some rewards bucks in my account going unused, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it, but that's not to say it's not worth it, because it's held up really well so far.

I have a Manduka strap and cork block, but I never tried their yoga mats but they looked really nice. I have the Hugger Mugger Earth Elements Mat:

And I've been using that for the last year. I recommend it thus far--durable and cushy.

The majority of my activity is walking. For January, I walked every day for an average of 57:43 minutes per walk. Average miles per walk was 3.22. My body, specifically my back won’t allow me to run and I’m ok with that.
I do weights twice a week and I’d probably add a third day if it was available. I think this month I’ll add a resistance bands day.
I really want to focus on my core this month. I only addressed that 6 times in January. So I might cut back on how long I walk for. Although that’s going to be hard because I enjoy it.

Seriously considering getting a rowing machine which would bump my times substantially. Gotta do something to catch up to these runner freaks.

I’m only laughing at the runner freaks line. I’ve thought about a rowing machine as well. Please share if you get one.

If you enjoy it, don't cut down! I try to incorporate quick 5 minute core workouts here and there, and I hate them but they're at least not difficult to tack to the beginning or end of a different workout without stretching out the time commitment too much.

I've gone back and forth on buying a rower for a WHILE, but if I ever decide to do it I'll probably go with the Concept2. I looked at some of the "smarter" rowers that give you the Peloton-style experience, but I don't wanna be stuck with something I have to keep subscribing to, in addition to all the subs I already have. My friend uses a Concept2 and uses some other app to give him his training/classes/competition fix, and he's really enjoying it so that's probably the route I'll go too.

Yes, definitely a concept2. I've shopped used for a while and for the trade offs I think I will go new. I've already measured my space and figured out where I would use it and store it. My work's health program reimburses $250/year for things like this so that helps ease the price anxiety a bit. I figure worst case we hate it and we can still sell it for a "profit" considering the reimbursement angle. When I did frequent a commercial gym I used the concept2 quite a lot and it is a very solid piece of kit.

Core is my last mental roadblock but I’m going to try and break through this month.

I use a rower 3 or 4 times a week, I firmly believe it’s the best machine in the gym and a great all over workout, but it’s only mildly less mentally challenging than a treadmill.
I have to do HIT workouts to distract my brain ! But it does mean shorter sessions.

Should I check YT for some yoga vids or are there any decent apps that you’d recommend?
I found this:

And I like yoga journal. I have done the app yogaglo which was $18/ month but it included meditation and lectures that I was into as well. I always recommend going to a class because the instructor can give you a lot of help when you are starting. I do a couple different classes at my gym.

My yoga instructors say that balancing poses are amazing for core strength so I would see if you can find some balancing videos but most instructors work balancing into their routine.

Who needs turntable porn - I think we should all get Water grinders !

NOHrD WaterGrinder

Oh cool…so what’s the price….uh, yeah, nope.
