Movies

You know, I thought that Nicole Kidman would be weird as Lucille Ball and for most of the movie she looks kind of off because I can't help but to think - this is Nicole Kidman... But I thought she did a good job overall and her mannerisms of "in-show" Lucy are spot on. I haven't seen enough of real life Lucille Ball footage to comment on if her portrayal is good but I thought she was realistic at the very least.
I think Nicole Kidman just generally IS weird and I've never quite understood why she's the perennial A-lister that she is. Which is not to say she's a bad actress, but I think she's a very strange one, and not in a "strange but draws the eye anytime they're on camera" way like, say, Tilda Swinton.

Her greatest role.

There is the fantastic Lucille Ball Museum at the National Comedy Center in her hometown of Jamestown, NY. Once things are safe again it's certainly worth a visit if you looking for something fun. The Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum , National Comedy Center - Jamestown, NY

The Beastie Boys Story is really good y'all.
I recommend it so much. Me and the hubs watched it on a whim and we really enjoyed it.
This looks dumb, but maybe it'll be funny... I dunno, I don't like horror movies but sometimes funny ones are okay.

THANK YOU!!
I also hate horror movies. I just can't do them. I am too tender. I can sort of stomach the funny ones because those are usually so over the top that I know they aren't real. I know other horror movies aren't real either, but someone needs to tell that to my brain.

Gillian Anderson as Lucy in American Gods worked for me so much more than Nicole Kidman does.

Also, this is one of the best movies ever made:

I completely agree with this. Not sure if I will watch the Lucy biopic but I kinda wanna watch To Die For again.

Just watched The Last Duel. I'm somewhat conflicted about it. I think it had a unique approach to telling the story, but due to the subject matter it infuriated me. Women have had to deal with so much insane bull shit throughout history it's a wonder they haven't killed us all.
Haven’t seen this yet, but isn’t it kind of ripping off the format of Rashomon? Have heard conflicting things about it but will Probably give it a watch when it comes to streaming though

Yes, it definitely follows that same format. It could have been used to greater effect than it was.
That seems to be a common criticism I’ve seen. Will likely give it a watch this weekend though. Also trying to catch Drive my Car and Parallel Mothers this weekend but it’s going to be near single digits in NYC

Super stoked to see a limited theater screening of Boy Harsher's film tonight. It'll be streaming on Shudder starting Sunday.

Eternals was directed by Chloe Zaho? I find that hard to believe.

Richard Madden isn’t very good, the movie flubs the flashback structure and there’s just little energy. What happened?
tough to bring an auteur into a franchise that is inherently unwilling to challenge its viewers too much.

Oh, absolutely. There’s hints of her personal style but my god, the MCU’s embrace of safe mediocrity just pisses me off.

There’s supposed to be a love story at the center of the movie. Where is it? It’s not just that these
Movies ignore the carnal pleasures but there is not a satisfying love story in the whole MCU.

They're using the name of acclaimed/promising auteurs to boost the legitimacy of their products. Emerald Fennell, Nia Dicosta, Greta Gerwig and several others already have some superhero/disney stuff in the pipeline. This is probably going to be the norm unfortunately. I'm imagining what Martin Scorsese's filmography would look like if every other movie had to be some soulless superhero thing.
