It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Man, I’m really having a hard time picking just one club to support.
Leicester has been my #1 so far this season. BUT I also enjoy watching West Ham and Wolverhampton. I’m also partial to Wolverhampton’s colors because they just happen to be similar to the NHL team I follow.
THEN there’s Tottenham with their smooth home kits and fiery manager. Lastly, the same ownership group that owns Liverpool, recently became majority owners of the NHL team that I support. So there’s that.

🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m surprised you didn’t become a City fan because of your username

My interest started before my name change and I didn’t want to pick a front runner. Especially the defending champion.
I’d just stick with Leicester tbh. That’s a good team that’s having a bad year. Picking a front runner is no fun like you said because that much winning gets boring. If Leicester go on to win the UEFA conference league or FA Cup again that will be much more satisfying than City walking the league
That uncomfortable moment when you acknowledge that the oft derided Phil Jones, of comedy gurning fame, was, on his return from 2 years of injury hell, your teams best player by an absolute country mile…
Says a lot about the team really. And it’s almost unfair to Jones who afaik hasn’t done anything wrong. He could have been in the lineup instead of Slabhead putting in better performances over the past 2 years. I always thought he was unfairly pushed to the side even though he’s been on and off injured

Leicester will most likely be it for me. I know they’ve had a bunch of injuries that haven’t helped. Buuuuutttt, I might have a side chick like @Jonathan Y suggested 😁

To be fair to Phil Jones he’s not been on and off injured the last two years he’s practically had his knee rebuilt and was only in training since just after the summer. You could only really say he’s been “left out” as such since late Nov/early Dec. In his career as a whole though injuries have been unkind to him because there really always was a good player trapped in there. Maguire has been poor though, you’re right there.

A second team in the same league

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

I could perhaps contemplate understanding it if you’re a lifelong supporter of a smaller club who took a shine to a bigger club for tv viewing and all of a sudden found your team in the top flight.

The closest I’ve ever got is hate watching Liverpool and always wanting to see them beaten and so rooting for the other team…

There did always used to be a thing when I was growing up that you always supported every English team when they were in Europe, bar Liverpool, but that’s pretty much dead now too.

I agree. Especially two London teams in Arsenal in West Ham (sorry @Jonathan Y 😅)

tbf, I kind of like Brighton because my cat was intently watching the tv one time a few years back when they were playing. So from then on I assigned them as her favorite team. I loosely support them as a neutral but that's it. Also no one really hates Brighton except Crystal Palace for some reason. My favorite team is Spurs and whoever is playing a team that would help Spurs position in the table.

I think the Brighton Palace things is just one of those random things where two teams that have no local rivals at their level (there’s nothing much else football wise in South London or on Brighton’s bit of the South Coast) can find one through random things like a few contentious matches/transfers etc. South London and Brighton aren’t that far apart in the grand scheme of things either, it’d be a popular weekend jaunt or even commuter town for Londoners

Oh it's ok!! I would feel the same if I was living over there, it'd be like someone being a Miami and Tampa Bay fan. or liking the Giants and Jets in American football. However I didn't even know West Ham was a London team lmao that shows the extent of my love for them. I've just always viewed them as a sneaky mid tier team waiting for a breakthru and loved to watch them shake things up year after year

West Ham that has the word “London” on their badge? And that plays at the “London Stadium”?

Classic @boojy 😂😂😂
