Coming up on 200 hours of AssCreed Valhalla and Ubi is still teasing new content...
I really liked AC Valhalla but was frankly exhausted by the time I finally beat the game and claimed Excalibur and Mjolnir. The thought of even more content almost depresses me. I feel like they could have trimmed 25% of that game and it would have been just as awesome.

But I did download the Iki Island expansion for Ghosts of Tsushima. That's the best AC game of the last decade IMHO.

After 6 hours stuck I just looked up how to get out on YouTube. Apparently a lot of people get stuck for hours.
I haven’t played this game but I never wander for a long time in games. I dunno, if I can’t figure something out after like 5-10 minutes I look that shit up. Can’t be wasting too much time for something silly like getting lost or not finding an item easily.

The whole game is trying real hard to be The Witcher 3, but never hits the mark. The classic AC gameplay is spot on, very fun to play and breathtaking to explore, but overall i didnt dive a shit about most of the story. Some threads started off real strong and just failed to stick the landing.

I’m playing it right now and it feels like a few elements from a lot of games. Skyrim, Witcher 3, RDR2, Shadow of War, and lastly Assassins Creed. I’m only 20 hours in and I’m liking it. Might change when I get further into it but I already had to up the difficulty since I felt too OP with a few abilities. I remember getting bored of the story in Origins early and just gave up following later on, Odyssey was good throughout, and so far, Valhalla is enjoyable. I’m really liking some of the random “mystery” missions. They’re weird and funny.

This is a pretty interesting read. My takeaway is we don't know yet because 2021 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Both the Next Gen PS5 and Xbox Series X are virtually impossible to buy still without winning digital lotteries to purchase or paying above retail from scalpers.

When it comes to game libraries, both consoles still do not have their flagship exclusives released as of last month.

Halo is dropping by the end of this year for the Xbox and Horizon Forbidden West in February.

All the games released are from third party developers so far so they are pretty much available on every platform giving no one platform the advantage. In addition to this, it's very hard to tell if any PS5 or XBOX Series X games are actually next gen games or were built primarily for the previous gen consoles nad ported because they are available on PS4 / older Xbox's as well.

When it comes to hardware specs, the XBox Series X wins barely. It has the same processor and video card as the PS5, but clocked slightly faster. The XBox Series X also has a 1TB internal drive compared of the 860 GB drive the PS5 has. Hower, the PS5 has an extra SSD slot, so if you know what you are doing you could open up the case and drop an additional SSD in it which edges the PS5 out over the XBox Series X.

The XBox Series S was mentioned, their takeaway is skip this model. It's not worth upgrading to. And is only worth buying new if you don't plan on moving to 4k in the next few years. The Series S also does not support External Storage whatsoever.

Both the PS5 and Series X do support external storage, but game play is not possible from the external storage. You would need to transfer the game back to the internal drive before playing.

There were a few fun surprises in the side missions, especially the literary ones. The Daughters of Lerion are obviously King Lear based, but the Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh references were particularly fun finds for me. I think there are a couple Lord of the Rings references as well.

On the other hand, I hate frustratingly challenging or boring side missions like fishing or rock-stacking which are engineered to infuriate the completionist in me (see also: Batmobile missions in Arkham Knight).

It was definitely a fun game, and liked it more than Odyssey (which was the only AC game I didn't play to completion). But I wish they'd stop trying to pack in elements of EVERY game. Sometimes all I want to do is parkour around rooftops and silently stab targets in the throat for hours.

Yeah it seems with each one there’s less and less missions where you actually need to be sneaky. Plus with all of the extremely fun abilities available I sometimes just run into a fight first.

The S is my first step into the Xbox ecosystem and it’s doing me fine so far. It’s a great console for the 3 hours a week I play, and it means I can go back and play the old stuff I haven’t played as I was a PS exclusive guy for most generations. It’ll tide me over until I can get a PS5 slim and play the exclusives that are out.

That places you into the small group of people that Series S makes sense for according to them. You didn't have a previous generation Xbox. If you did upgrading doesn't make sense. Sense you didn't, and 4k is not important to you right now the Series S is a solid system for you and your game play habits =)

Oh, yeah, totally.

I kind of think of the S as like a fancier non-portable Switch. If you don’t want full 4K fanciness (my hot take - the fact that the Switch is so popular suggests a good proportion of the gaming public don’t care about bleeding edge graphics) you can get a bunch of great games for a decent price. It’s the casual gamers dream system at the moment.

Anyone try out Halo Infinite? I know there's been a lot of fuss about the progression and battle pass systems, and yeah they seem too grindy and overpriced to me. Personally, I don't care at all about that aspect of the game. I'll mix my appearance up if I unlock things, sure, but I'm not one who pays for cosmetics. Mechanically though, this thing has been a blast. I hop on the older games with my son from time to time, but I haven't played a shooter on console since I bought a gaming PC in the summer. I decided to keep things classic at first, and installed on my One X. It took only a couple of minutes to realized that the controller controls felt really awkward and slow, even with maxed out sensitivity. I installed on my computer, and weirdly enough, it felt like riding a bike, even though I've never played Halo on a PC. My k/d went back to overall positive, and it felt like I was in my comfort zone. Controls are nice and smooth, and I like the new maps, weapons, and power ups. The only thing that stands out is the playlists. They all mix in various types of games like slayer, oddball, and CTF, even in ranked. There's no separate playlists right now for game type, only the type of game - 4v4, Big Team, and ranked. Not a bad thing for me, I like playing the other types of games as well, but it does feel like standard slayer has been the least played game type so far.

TL;DR - progression system sucks, gameplay rules

Progression system could use some tweeks, but it doesn't effect the fact that this is EASILY the most fun Halo has been in over a decade.

It's a fun Halo multiplayer experience. I haven't enjoyed playing Halo this much since Halo 2. And I was one of those "at someone's house every weekend with my Xbox and TV" Halo 2 players.
