Pre-Order Thread

fuuuuuuuuck this is tempting. I don't know if I want it enough though

EDIT: Also that shipping rate is very much a turn off
Yeah, but After dropping $40 on the Fightless King Gizz record I couldn’t NOT purchase this (at least that’s what I told myself to justify the purchase) Madlib/Freddie hip hop headz are a rabid bunch. If you don’t dig it you could prolly flip it and get yer cost (plus shipping) recouped at the very least.

Also, the email I received from KGATLW today said two of the three flightless variants have already sold out (not to stoke the FOMO flames) but I bet the remainder sells out sooner rather than later.

The first release off Colemine Records offshoot Karma Chief is Ghost Funk Orchestra’s debut album “A Song For Paul” is up for pre-sale via Colemine. They are selling a transparent gold pressing limited to 1500 copies. The whole album is streaming now on their site and I really dig it more Lo-Fi R&B/Funk vibe.

New band to me but streaming sounds good on Tidal. A quick check on Discogs shows an original press is likely out of the question. Clear/red splatter it is.

Edit: tossing a bundle into the basket shows 29 left of Clear/red splatter. Interesting sounds.
I prefer the sound of their sophomore album, Meta. Plus I can’t stand the cover of the debut. Meta ordered!

I've tried to use the search and nothing popped up. Has anyone posted the toe. reissues in here yet?

The Book About My Idle Plot On A Vague Anxiety -- burgundy vinyl (1,000)

"The book about my idle plot on vague anxiety" needs to be in every collection! I love that album and I think it's toe's best. Get it people!

Belgian jazz followers (@Poly-Rythmo , @ChristoBee , @others?), SdBan announced their next release.

TaxiWars is back after a three-year hiatus with new album ‘Artificial Horizon’, released 6th September via Sdban Ultra. An intensive collaboration between dEUS frontman Tom Barman, saxophonist Robin Verheyen, bassist Nicolas Thys and drummer Antoine Pierre, TaxiWars are a mix of lyricism, poetry and jazz with a rock sensibility.

Three years in the making, ‘Artificial Horizon’, is a metaphorical step forward from 2016’s critically acclaimed album ‘Fever’. Reinventing themselves, Barman and Verheyen came up with something very fresh and personal, tastefully evolving from a cubistic jazz sound to a more melodious direction. The band took their music to the next level adding depth to their compositions, clarity to the beats and efficiency to their overall sound.

‘Artificial Horizon’ is high on experimentation and creativity and demonstrates a kaleidoscope of styles and sounds. Tracks like album opener ‘Drop Shot, are sharp and on point, with a heavy sense of groove, while recent single ‘Sharp Practice’, is an impulsive, energetic vibration that steams jazz with late eighties hip-hop beats. Title track ‘Artificial Horizon’, is both beguiling and insistent with an ingrained punkiness that sets the band apart from the plush jazz scene, all thanks to Verheyen’s punchy, melodic lines and Barman’s haunting lyrics. “I wanted TaxiWars to be sharp, to the point, punky and trashy – much like the band Morphine. Long solos were no-go,” says Barman.

The exquisite piano ballad ‘Irritated Love’ complete with smoky sax is an example of the ease in which TaxiWars merge certain traditional elements of jazz with an indie approach to songwriting while tracks like ‘The Glare’ and ‘Infinity Cove’ display TaxiWars’ love for jazz musicians such as Pharaoh Sanders, Archie Shepp, and Charles Mingus – full of swing, pulse, and the urge to break out of the genre’s confinements.
