Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I wonder how this will compare to the Polysom issue? That was remastered (possibly cut?) from the original tapes. I spent like $40 on it a few years ago but it was worth it. It’s a great sounding album so hopefully VMP won’t screw up their issue. I’m surprised Mr. Bongo hasn’t taken on this title so I wonder if that’s in the works after the VMP exclusivity period.

Yeah I was curious about that Polysom issue, that could also just be cut from the high-rez master tape dump that VMP is using, but may or may not be from a more competent cutting facility. I'd figure that Mr. Bongo would want to do something like Now Again has done with their exclusives.

Yeah I really have no idea but it sounds great. I’m assuming they might have an easier time accessing the master tape being a company from Brazil but who knows. No idea what shape the tapes are in either.

Side note, I’m really hoping for a reissue of that album Jorge Ben did with Gilberto Gil sometime soon. It’s so good!

Begs the question: which one of you all actually recommended this album to them?
Haha I actually do think someone here put it up in the previous forum in the “Needs to be repressed” section. I know I advocated for it a couple times as did several other members over the years.

I'm surprised Storf didn't say in the write-up "this is a great record to mow your lawn to with your shirt open in the summertime", which is maybe the weirdest thing someone has ever written more than once.

Weird, yes. But man, when it's a scorcher and you've got a lawn to mow, nothing feels better than that slight breeze on your sweaty belly as you mow. Top it off with a glass of ice cold lemonade, freshly squeezed, and it's not so bad.

TBH I'm not bothered that the source is digital. As they said the owners of the tapes keep them in Brazil and are unlikely to release them to any American company, let alone one the scale of VMP. I just don't get why they have apparently not decided to get this cut by a competent engineer, and seem to have just defaulted to GZ again.
Has this been confirmed? Did Storf say it was DMM at GZ? I didn't see anything in the write-up, but you never know. Guess I'm still optimistic that they are too stupid to market consistently to people who actually give a shit about mastering.

All that was confirmed is that they used the "highest quality digital masters".
