Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Uh oh...reports on Reddit of noise, a locked groove and a couple of people with two disc 1s. Ah shit here we go again.

I got mine yesterday. Can confirm there is a ton of surface noise on side A / B. Its worse than my Deloused and Wu-Tang. Didn't even bother spinning C / D. I'll put in for a replacement, but I am not sure how much more of this I have in me. 4 straight months of duds.

At this point I feel like I've given them way more chances than they deserve. This is an abusive relationship.

Jesus. I skipped out on Grizzly Bear for fear of this. I’m done with the Essentials track.

Yeah, at this point if anyone continues to resub (outside of Classics) it’s kinda on them.

To be fair I did turn my Wu-Tang credits into an impeccably RTI pressed copy of Medeski Martin & Wood - The Dropper which sounds fantastic.

Lol reddit. Tons of colored presses that don't sound like someone smeared shit in the grooves, but this guy figured it all out. Bonus points goes to the guy blaming everyone's setups. What a complete trash heap.

I noticed that the child who writes for analog planet reviewed the last few essentials and I was pleased that they mentioned the noise, but every single one they wrote off as it being due to being colored, which is just silly. I wouldn't be surprised if that fed into this opinion.

Blaming a skip on color is a new one for me. Pretty stupid.

It's cognitive dissonance, plain and simple. For whatever reason these people have a cultlike allegiance to this company, and any piece of information that portrays them anything short of great must be dismissed.

Add it to the list of reasons why people are having issues:
1 You got the only bad copy
2 Your system is too shitty
3 You're just whining/attention whore
4 You just want more copies because you're a flipper!
and now..... 5. It's colored vinyl, it's bound to have some noise, get over it noob.

I converted mine for the new IDLES which is being pressed at RTI. Got a little more credits to spend and then that's it. I'm free for the first time since becoming a member in spring 2016. The uninspired upcoming selections combined with the constant issues recently made this an easy choice.

It sounds like people on Reddit haven't figured out the differences between GZ and QRP/RTI yet.

FWIW, I remember, when I was new to collecting vinyl records, I didn't really get that there was such a noticeable difference between different pressing plants. With CDs, you didn't really have to think about any of that.

I think it might be fun to create a list of all the things that Reddit "hasn't figured out yet".

The list would be long.

The list would be very long.

You just have to laugh at this point.

I got my replacement Wu-Tang in the other day and it's noisy, possibly worse than first copy. I now have the option to get a third copy or store credit. Tempted to roll the dice on another copy because I am an eternal optimist 🤥

Yeah I've got a 3rd coming. It gave me hope that the 2nd didn't have the noise, but just double labeled, so we shall see......
