I randomly didn’t to Ireland when fed ex are normally all over that like a rash. I think they declared each record at 100 yen which is peanuts so it maybe it slips in under the threshold?

DHL in Canada will use any excuse to extort money from you. I was hit a couple of times onVMP shipments with $27 bills. $2 for taxes and $25 for "administration fee"

So will FedEx and UPS too. All three are Bastards. UPS are threatening debt recovery for €48 for a parcel that I refused and so was returned and I got a full refund on. Repeated requests for legal justification are met with the legal equivalent of “you owe us because we say so, so there 😛”

as a bonus the japanese pressing adds heart of glass and sunday girl as the last track on each side

I did a quick needle drop on them already and both revolver and abbey road sounded really good. let it be looks pristine but had a bit more clicks than I’d like. and the Blondie was super quiet but sounded a little thin comparatively.

I’ll report back.

The ELO pre-order for instance, I was about to purchase it and then I sat there thinking to myself that I'm jumping on it to avoid an aftermarket price FIRST and because it's an album I like second..........that needs to stop. We become conditioned, even if it's being purchased at retail pricing we subconsciously are thinking of what it might be "worth" and how much it would cost later.

These types of things are what sours the hobby for me, not that it's any different than any other hobby, but it remains true across the board.

And here's another thing I'm starting to consider. If I'm buying "audiophile" vinyl, I have to devote myself 100% to listening to it if I'm going to experience the full benefit of having audiophile vinyl. That requires a listening session where I'm doing nothing much more than listening, carefully and critically, to the music. At some point I have to ask myself just how much time I have for that kind of listening, which is quite different, of course, from putting on an album and doing other things, in addition to listening to the album. In that "other things" context, I'm not sure it matters whether I have an "audiophile" copy versus a very solid listening copy (or, perhaps a digital source, but that's probably fodder for a completely different discussion). Buying this stuff requires some commitment, and I have to admit I'm well beyond the point where I can live up to it.

Valid points. I think the more entrenched you get into all this, the more you really should take a long hard look at yourself in terms of time and your listening habit wants/needs.

Honestly, I used to fire up the UD tube rig during the day while working and between not paying attention and leaving the tubes on for an extended period of time while not being used, I find myself using the PLX rig and or CDs during my work day. When I hunker down, it's on the UD.

Cool! Given how expensive the mofi Beatles have become I’m looking for possible other ways to build a stereo collection, if the Japanese are viably good they may be a definite alternative!

By the way the three Lennon OGs I bought are great, listening to them again tonight and really enjoying how they sound.
 
I'd like to take this moment to say that you'll all, I'm sure, be very happy to hear that I finally replaced my very picky 2m Black.... with another 2m Black... I blew my upgrade budget on the speakers.

I wanted the LVB but the stylus alone isn't available up here yet and it's much much more expensive than the standard black. Like almost double. Seems a bit excessive. Just went standard. I love the sound, just not the amplification of bad pressings. But it's the difference between spending $500 on the replacement and knowing how great the sound is gunna be, or dropping like 3.5 times that on a Art9. Gunna have to wait for that. The speakers and BlueSound took that money and devoured it real quick.
